On Bright Tuesday, we read the story of the road to Emmaus from the Gospel of St. Luke, where two disciples on the road to Emmaus do not recognize Jesus. Likewise, we realize Jesus sometimes, perhaps often, appears to us unrecognized, even as He journeys with us. The disciples finally recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread. In the Communion of the Holy Mysteries, we see and receive the Resurrected Christ, who promised “behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)”

We read from the Apostle Paul:
And He is the head of the Body, the Church: Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence (Col. 1:18).
This is completely incomprehensible. How can we call Christ “the firstborn from the dead,” if Lazarus the Four-Days-Dead arose earlier, if the son of the widow of Nain was raised much earlier, not to mention the son of the widow from Zarephath of Zidon who was raised up by the Prophet Elijah? The Holy Fathers, resolving this perplexity, say that Christ is the firstborn of the dead because He showed us a new Resurrection. Those people resurrected, but they also died again.
And why did Christ not immediately ascend to Heaven, but, having risen, communed with His disciples for another forty days? He was showing the format of the new Resurrection. He is the firstborn, and we go behind the firstborn. In its spiritual and physical qualities, our resurrected body will resemble the body of the Lord Jesus Christ after His Resurrection from the dead.
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ (Eph. 4:13).

Pride is the most stupid thing.
... A while ago, here in Tbilisi, there lived a holy person, monk Gabriel. His last name was Urgebadze. When proud thoughts came up to Gabriel's heart, he put a diadem on his head and went out to the streets of Tbilisi and everyone would say, "What a fool!" This is what he needed, as Christians are elevated through humility.
Did many people understand him? Almost no one.
Gabriel? He behaved like… like an insane or drunken one. He cried something and confused people.
Drunken, you say, I see, like a drunken one, well. But what did he do when he was drunken?
He told people about Christ, told them to love one another, to leave in peace and go to Church.
Oh, really! Then I want to be drunken or insane like him. And kind, of course.
