The military parade kicked off in Red Square in central Moscow to mark the 79th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany and its allies in World War II.

Military soldiers participating in the Russian military operation in Ukraine and dozens of vehicles, helicopters, and warplanes of all kinds, including strategic bombers carrying missiles and nuclear bombs, participated in the parade.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the military participating and present on Victory Day, in which he congratulated Russian citizens and military forces on the anniversary of Victory Day, noting that the strategic forces are ready and always ready to fight.

President Putin stressed that his country will do everything in its power to prevent any global clash and will not allow anyone to threaten, declaring Moscowโ€™s rejection of the demands of any country or alliance for exclusivity.

Victory Day is a national holiday in which Russia and a number of former Soviet republics celebrate the surrender of Nazi Germany in World War Two.

This surrender took place on the evening of May 9, 1945, and was preceded by another surrender signed by the German leadership with the Allies.
The Soviet government announced Germanyโ€™s surrender on May 9, with May 9 each year becoming a day celebrated by the Soviet Union, followed by Russiaโ€™s victory over Nazi Germany.

In this context, Russian forces organized at the Hmeimim base in the countryside of Latakia, northwestern Syria, a military parade for Russian forces, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory Day over Nazism.

The prominent participation, which is the first in years for the state of Libya, which is witnessing a political crisis since the fall of Muammar Gaddafiโ€™s rule in 2011, was where a representative of the General Command of the Libyan Army, Colonel Khaled Haftar, along with some leaders, participated in attending the military parade for Victory Day on one of the platforms in Red Square.

Two days ago, Colonel Haftar arrived in Moscow and met with the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and African States, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, where they exchanged views on many issues.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the main focus during the conversation was on the task of uniting all national political and regional forces in order to ensure the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Libya.

Russia is working to stand at the same distance with all Libyan political parties to reach a solution to get out of its crisis that has been pending for more than 12 years after the fall of Muammar Gaddafiโ€™s rule, as Moscow is trying to push all political parties to sit at the same table to develop a road map that helps the country rise, hold elections, and alleviate the suffering of the people.

The leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Laos, and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau attended the military parade on the occasion of Victory Day, along with President Vladimir Putin.

The first to arrive in Moscow was Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who arrived on Monday for the ceremony, during which he met with the deputy head of the Russian Security Council and head of the United Russia party Dmitry Medvedev.

The relationship between Russia and Cuba dates back to the Cold War, when Cuba was flying under the banner of communism and had great support from the Soviet Union, and the relationship between Cuba and Russia is characterized by close cooperation in a variety of fields, including the economy, energy, education, culture, and defense.

Russia provides economic support to Cuba, especially in the fields of oil and energy, where the two countries have signed trade agreements that strengthen economic cooperation.

Laos President Thongloun Sisoulith also attended the parade, and all Sisoulith had previously met with Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, where they reaffirmed that illegal sanctions, diktats, isolationism, repression, and the domination of the powerful over the principles of equality and justice should have no place.

The relationship between the two countries is witnessing strategic development and cooperation in many fields, as Moscow closely supports Laos in international organizations and international forums, which enhances its international standing, along with the development of relations in the economic and military field such as training and development of security infrastructure.
