The Russian frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” visited the coast of Eritrea at the invitation to participate in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The frigate docked at the port of Massawa amid a welcome ceremony and in the presence of representatives of the local administration and the Eritrean navy.

The Pacific Fleet continued to dock for several days, after which the frigate continued to carry out its long-distance cruise schedule.

During the ship’s visit, a rich cultural and sports program was organized for the sailors, where the crew of the frigate visited important landmarks on tourist tours, and friendly sports matches were organized in honor of the sailors of the guest country.

The Rwandan Ministry of Emergency Management announced the arrival of 113 refugees and migrants to Rwanda from Libya under the supervision of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

This is the eighteenth group since the beginning of the program’s implementation, and it consists of individuals of six different nationalities, including South Sudan, Eritrea, Ivory Coast, and Somalia.

The emergency evacuation mechanism was established in 2019 at the initiative of Rwandan President Paul Kagame, in response to the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the detention of African refugees in Libya, as they were trying to cross to Europe via the Mediterranean.

So far, Rwanda has received about 2,300 migrants and asylum seekers within this mechanism, and more than 1,300 of them were able to move to third countries.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, discussed the situation in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, during a phone call, according to the official Somali News Agency.

The two presidents welcomed the momentum witnessed in cooperation between the two countries in the recent period, stressing their keenness to expand the horizons of cooperation to include various fields in accordance with the fraternal ties between the two peoples.

They stressed the importance of ensuring the security and stability of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden regions, which will reflect positively on the Horn of Africa and its people.

Yesterday, Monday, the Political Secretary of the Beja Supreme Council, Sayed Abu Amna, revealed the presence of four armed groups in Eritrea working to inflame tensions in eastern Sudan.

He pointed out that these groups have links to leaders from the former National Congress Party.

Abu Amna explained that the groups include the Eastern Orta forces led by Al-Amin Daoud, the Eastern Sudan Liberation Movement led by Ibrahim Dunia, the National Justice and Development Movement forces led by Muhammad Tahir Suleiman Beitai, and the Beja Congress led by Musa Muhammad Ahmed.

The Egyptian authorities are intensifying their efforts to arrest a Sudanese citizen who killed a Sudanese woman by shooting her in front of passers-by in the Giza region in southern Egypt, before fleeing the scene.

It was reported that the authorities received a report that a Sudanese woman was killed by a Sudanese citizen’s bullets in front of the UNHCR in 6th of October City.

Immediately, security forces moved to the scene of the accident, where they found a woman in her fifties dead as a result of a gunshot wound.

Investigations revealed that a dispute broke out between the woman and the man of the same nationality in front of the Commission, which developed into an argument and a fistfight.

The “Nigerian Tribune” newspaper revealed in a recent report that Libya topped the list of the most corrupt African countries for the year 2024, according to the Corruption Perceptions Index issued by Transparency International.

The report indicated that Libya ranked 170th globally out of 180 countries included in the evaluation, indicating the widespread corruption in the country.

The report stated that the weakness of institutions and political instability, which worsened after the overthrow of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, contributed significantly to the exacerbation of corruption in Libya.
