The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, held a series of important meetings to strengthen the partnership between the European Union and Libya, with the aim of supporting stability and unifying Libyan institutions.

Orlando concluded his tours with a meeting with Major General Saddam Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, General Command, where they discussed strengthening the partnership in response to the Derna flood that occurred last September.

The results of the meeting of the European Union technical mission on migration and border management were also reviewed, and the two sides stressed the importance of cooperation in the sectors of saving lives at sea and in the desert, combating human smuggling, and strengthening the capabilities of law enforcement agencies.

The Chinese President, Xi Jinping, and the President of Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Amaru Sissoko Embalo, announced that the relationship between the two countries had been raised to a “strategic partnership.”

This came during an official visit by President Embalo to Beijing, where the two presidents supervised the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements between the two countries, according to what Agence “France-Presse” reported.

During his meeting with President Embalo, Xi Jinping stressed the distinguished history of friendship between the two countries.

He expressed China’s readiness to maintain friendly and close exchanges with Guinea Bissau, noting China’s readiness to continue providing support for local construction projects in the country.
