The mission stressed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and called on the authorities to ensure the protection and safety of civilians.

The city witnessed armed clashes between groups affiliated with the First Support Force in Zawiya, led by Mohamed Bahroun, nicknamed β€œAl-Far”, and groups affiliated with the deputy head of the Stabilization Support Agency, Hassan Bouzriba, in several areas of the city since the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to sources from the ambulance and emergency service, the number of wounded rose to 22 people, including one death, and calm returned to the city after notables intervened to stop the clashes.

According to an officer in the Zawiya Security Directorate, the clashes erupted due to internal disputes that developed into skirmishes, and against the backdrop of the discovery of five bodies, including a woman, shot dead.

β€˜Agence France-Presse’ reported that the clashes have led to the closure of some roads and the suspension of classes in the area.

The regions in western Libya are experiencing a state of insecurity, with daily criminal activities resulting in civilian casualties. This situation is due to the proliferation of armed factions that the government of Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh has been unable to control.
