A statement issued by the Sudanese army indicated that the operation led to the capture of a number of fighters, including minors who were deceived into fighting within the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces.

The statement affirmed the army’s determination to bring the detainees to fair trials in accordance with international laws, stating that the fighters were lured with financial promises.

This statement comes amid ongoing tensions and clashes in Sudan, where the army and the Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in fierce battles since April 15, 2023.

Sudanese volunteers said on Tuesday that three children died of starvation in a neighborhood of the capital Khartoum, which is under siege by the Sudanese army.

According to the emergency room of the Ombada suburb of Omdurman, the children died of acute hunger, as a result of the interruption of meals from the kitchens of the charity rooms due to the lack of adequate support to operate them, and the chamber confirmed that its initiatives cover only 10% of the necessary needs.

The emergency room launched a distress call for urgent intervention to help the citizens of Ombada, who are experiencing a humanitarian disaster due to the lack of food, medicine, and drinking water.

The World Food Program (WFP) said in February it was receiving reports of people starving to death in Sudan, and that the number of hungry people had doubled over the past year as civilians were deprived of aid because of the war.

The Rapid Support Forces destroyed the strategic Halfaya Bridge, which connects Khartoum Bahri and Omdurman, north of the Sudanese capital, leading to the outbreak of new tensions between them and the Sudanese army.

A strong explosion was heard shortly before midnight on Monday, and the accident caused serious damage to the concrete structures of the bridge, which is vital for the movement of supplies in the region.

Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, spokesman for the Sudanese army, confirmed in a statement to reporters that the Rapid Support Forces destroyed the eastern part of the bridge.

The army spokesman continued, saying: “The militia has a habit of attempting to destroy infrastructure and vital installations to cover up its failure to achieve its malicious goals, believing that this would prevent the armed forces from performing their duty to cleanse the nation of their filth.
