The official, whose identity was not revealed by the radio station, indicated that this position reflects Egypt’s view of peace with Israel as merely a ceasefire and not a comprehensive peace.

The Israeli official stated that Egypt, despite its previous participation in US-led alliances against targets such as Saddam Hussein, is taking a different position today, adding that “I have no expectations from Egypt in this context.”

For its part, Egypt confirmed that it is continuing to make efforts to reduce escalation and reduce tension levels in the region, especially after the recent assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.
