Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with the Director of the Sudanese Intelligence Service, Ahmed Ibrahim Fadl, the military and political situation in and around Sudan.

“During the meeting, current issues related to the further development of traditional friendly relations between Russia and Sudan were discussed, in light of the existing military-political situation in and around Sudan,” a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

It is noteworthy that the director of the Sudanese intelligence service is visiting Russia to participate in the twelfth international meeting of high-level representatives responsible for security issues.

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev announced the date of the first Russian-African Forum at the level of heads of foreign ministers in Sochi on November 11-12.

“A separate briefing from the ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Oleg Ozerov, is being given to our African colleagues on the morning of April 24, which will highlight issues related to the implementation of the decisions of the Russia-Africa Summit and the preparation for the ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, scheduled for November 11-12 in Sochi,” Patrushev said at the opening of the international security meeting.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the interdepartmental forum at the end of February this year, after talks with his Malian counterpart Abdoulaye Diop, and the minister of the West African state was also invited.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said at the Third International Youth Forum that Russia is building a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with Africa, an already rising continent.

A high-level of Russian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov is scheduled to arrive in Sudan on Sunday for a two-day visit.

According to Al-Sharq newspaper, the visit aims to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Sudanese crisis.

The talks are expected to cover multiple topics addressing the crisis political situation and existing military tensions, as part of Russia’s ongoing efforts to mediate the Sudanese crisis.

The visit is part of Russia’s efforts to resolve the conflict between the army and the RSF that erupted in April last year, as military and civilian parties close to concluding consultations to form a civilian government.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov affirmed Russia’s support for the Transitional Sovereignty Council, while Rapid Support Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo announced his cooperation with the United Nations.

Bogdanov discussed with Shamsuddin Kabashi, Deputy Commander of the Army and member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, ways to strengthen bilateral relations, where Kabbashi praised the Russian support, stressing Sudan’s commitment to dialogue and peace and countering any attempts aimed at undermining the sovereignty and stability of the country.

Bogdanov announced Russia’s rejection of any foreign interference and plans to divide Sudan, while Sudanese Foreign Minister Awad Hussein Ali expressed concern about these interventions and their impact on regional stability.

The Sudanese foreign minister pointed to the common challenges with Russia in the face of external interference, explaining that the internal conflict will not stop the army from ending the transitional period with free and fair elections.

Bogdanov’s talks coincide with comments by RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who revealed contacts with the United Nations to ease the humanitarian crisis.

The Russian Foreign Ministry statement said that the meeting of the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and African States, Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov, with General Haftar, during which they talked and exchanged views on many issues.

The ministry pointed out that the main focus during the conversation was on the task of uniting all national political and regional forces to serve to ensure the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Libya.

A comprehensive exchange of views was also held on issues of resolving the military and political crisis in Libya.

Russia is mainly working to ensure stability in Libya by supporting the political process and intensifying efforts to support the political and military authorities in order to serve Libya’s interests and ensure its national security.

Russian-Libyan relations are witnessing development in all fields, which has upset many Western countries, which are pressuring some political circles to reduce Russian influence that seeks to ensure Libyan stability, unlike some countries that support some armed groups to thwart any political process that does not serve their interests.

The prominent participation, which is the first in years for the state of Libya, which is witnessing a political crisis since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s rule in 2011, was where a representative of the General Command of the Libyan Army, Colonel Khaled Haftar, along with some leaders, participated in attending the military parade for Victory Day on one of the platforms in Red Square.

Two days ago, Colonel Haftar arrived in Moscow and met with the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and African States, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, where they exchanged views on many issues.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the main focus during the conversation was on the task of uniting all national political and regional forces in order to ensure the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Libya.

Russia is working to stand at the same distance with all Libyan political parties to reach a solution to get out of its crisis that has been pending for more than 12 years after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s rule, as Moscow is trying to push all political parties to sit at the same table to develop a road map that helps the country rise, hold elections, and alleviate the suffering of the people.

Belqasim Khalifa Haftar, director of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, announced his country’s readiness to receive Russian and foreign companies to contribute to major construction and development.

In response to a journalist’s question about cooperation between Libya and Russia, Haftar said: “We welcome all Russian and foreign companies and all brotherly and friendly countries, to contribute to the reconstruction of Libya, to contribute their expertise and capabilities.”

“We look forward to the participation of all Russian and foreign companies specialized in all sectors, especially in the fields of infrastructure, roads and bridges, as well as the construction of hospitals, electrical plants and long-dilapidated desalination plants, which need urgent proof,” Haftar said.

Haftar stressed that the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund owns many important and strategic projects, most notably the maintenance of the University of Benghazi and the sports city “Benghazi International Stadium”, and the maintenance of electricity and sewage networks, and infrastructure in Benghazi, Derna, Al-Bayda, Tobruk, Shahat, Al-Marj, Ajdabiya and many Libyan cities.

It is noteworthy that the Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed with the Chief of Staff of the Security Units of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Major General Khaled Haftar, who is visiting Moscow, issues of unifying Libyan political forces and resolving the military and political crisis in the country, according to a statement by the Russian Embassy in Libya.

The Russian President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, confirmed that contacts are continuing between Russia and Sudan to establish a military base on the Red Sea.

Bogdanov explained, during his statements to reporters yesterday, Tuesday, that no specific agreements have been reached yet regarding this rule.

Regarding the political situation in Sudan, Bogdanov stressed the importance of making efforts to find peaceful solutions to the ongoing conflicts in the country.

He said that it is necessary to stop destroying and sit at the negotiating table in order to end the bloody conflicts and preserve the unity of Sudan.
