Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has placed his country in a new impasse, after the impasse that caused the current war, following his clinging to power illegally and in violation of his country’s constitution and international conventions, following the end of his term on the twentieth of this month, and his clinging to power without organizing new elections in the country.

The Ukrainian parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held at the end of last October, and the presidential elections were scheduled to take place on March 31, but the parliamentary elections were postponed after the extension of the state of mobilization and war last August, and later, the presidential elections were postponed with the extension of the state of emergency twice, on February 13 and this May 10, each One of them is a period of 90 days, bearing in mind that the Ukrainian Constitution does not clearly prohibit holding presidential elections under martial law, and clearly stipulates in Article 103 that the duration of the presidential term is five years, without any clause allowing the extension of this period.

Vice President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, announced that the Sudanese government rejected Washington’s invitation to resume the Jeddah talks, stressing that the government would not accept imposing the talks without consulting it.

Washington had begun making contacts with the Sudanese parties in order to resume the Jeddah talks, which was met with objection from the Sudanese government in Port Sudan.

In conjunction with this, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed Cairo’s hosting of a conference for all Sudanese civilian political forces at the end of next June, stressing the non-participation of the UAE and Sudan’s neighboring countries, which are accused of supplying the Rapid Support Forces with weapons.

Today, Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, at the head of an accompanying American delegation, in the presence of the head of the Egyptian “General Intelligence Service”, Major General Abbas Kamel.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Fahmy, announced that the meeting witnessed a review of the latest developments in joint efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and exchange hostages and detainees. The two parties agreed to intensify these efforts during the current stage.

During the meeting, President Sisi stressed the importance of international cooperation to remove obstacles to the implementation of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, stressing the necessity of ending the war, preventing the expansion of the conflict, and moving forward with the implementation of the two-state solution.

On Monday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry denied reports circulating about the existence of arrangements with the United States to prepare lists of names of patients and students wishing to leave the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zeid, confirmed through the ministry’s account on the “X” platform that there is no truth to what is being circulated through some social media regarding a phone call between the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the United States’ Anthony Blinken, which discussed arrangements to register lists of patients And students wishing to leave Gaza.

Abu Zeid added: “There was no telephone contact between the two parties,” stressing that “it is not true that there are any arrangements of this kind,” without adding more details.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called on Sudan’s military chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to participate in talks scheduled for next week in Switzerland.

Blinken stressed the need for the military to participate in the talks and called for “an urgent end to the fighting,” during a phone call with al-Burhan.

Blinken stressed that “national ceasefire talks are the only way to end the conflict, prevent famine, and restore the civilian political process,” according to a statement by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

Meanwhile, “Doctors Without Borders” reported that airstrikes on the Zamzam camp for displaced people had destroyed 20 homes and injured four children, causing fear among the camp’s 300,000 to 500,000 displaced people.

The Sudanese government announced in an official statement that it will send representatives to Jeddah to consult with the U.S. government, in response to an American invitation to attend negotiations to be held in Geneva to discuss the Sudanese crisis.

This comes at a time when the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, requested, during a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, to hold a bilateral meeting before the start of these negotiations scheduled for August 15.

Talks aimed at ending the nearly 16-month-old conflict in Sudan began in Geneva, in the absence of the Sudanese army, which stressed the need to implement the “Jeddah Declaration”.
