Reports indicated that the postponement of the visit was not due to scheduling problems, but rather due to emerging diplomatic differences.

These events come in light of increasing tension in relations between Tunisia and Rabat, especially after the Tunisian president received the leader of the Polisario Front in August 2022, as this step at the time faced criticism from Tunisian political circles and considered it an escalation against the state, which has always been on Tunisia’s side.

Chad has submitted a formal request to Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani to support Chad’s candidacy of one of its citizens to assume the presidency of the African Air Navigation Security Agency.

This came during the Mauritanian president’s reception in Nouakchott with Chadian Foreign Minister Mohamed Saleh Nazif, where he handed him a message from his Chadian counterpart Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno.

After the meeting, Nazif said in a press statement: “He handed Ould Ghazouani a letter that includes two points, the first of which is related to the presidential elections in Chad, where Ghazouani, in his capacity as Chairman of the African Union, was briefed on the preliminary results of these elections.

A drone belonging to the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces bombed two cars and a large truck in the “Al-Mak” area inside the buffer zone near the Mauritanian border, according to informed sources in Mauritania.

The sources confirmed that the targeted cars and truck belonged to prospectors from the Tindouf camps, but the bombing did not result in any human losses.

This bombing coincided with the presence of Mauritanian prospectors in the same area practicing illegal prospecting activities, but they were able to flee to the Mauritanian interior immediately after the bombing began.
