Three European countries announced on Wednesday their decision to recognize the Palestinian state, in parallel with Norway’s announcement that it had implemented a criminal court order against Netanyahu, Galant and Hamas leaders to arrest them if they arrived in the country.

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris announced his country’s recognition of the Palestinian state, expressing confidence that “more countries will join us in this step in the coming weeks.”

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Storre said his country would be known as a Palestinian state from May 28, stressing that “there can be no peace in the Middle East if there is no recognition” of the Palestinian state.

Morocco advanced in the Global Peace Index for 2024, rising 14 places to rank 78th globally, and sixth in the Middle East and North Africa region.

This classification is issued by the Institute of Economics and Peace, based on a set of sub-indicators such as the level of crime, the number of detainees, security personnel, and defense spending.

Iceland, Ireland, and Austria topped the top three places, respectively, while Yemen, Sudan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Ukraine topped the list after being classified in the red zones.

At the Arab level, Kuwait came in 25th place globally and first in the Arab world, followed by Qatar (29), the Sultanate of Oman (37), the United Arab Emirates (53), Tunisia (74), Algeria (90), and Libya (128).

Irish writer Liz Weir, who uses a wheelchair due to heart problems, was exposed to a painful situation after she was left on the tarmac at the airport, and the plane belonging to the British company “EasyJet” took off without her.

The incident occurred during a short flight from Northern Ireland to Edinburgh and raised a wave of criticism and questions about the efficiency of safety procedures and supervision of passengers with special needs.

Liz Ware was on her way to attend an important event, and she found herself deprived of the flight after the plane’s door closed and moved off the runway without the crew noticing her presence and another passenger in a wheelchair. Airport employees tried to attract the pilot’s attention, but to no avail.

Data from the “Henley Passport Index”, issued by the British company “Henley & Partners”, shows that the Libyan passport is still ranked among the 10 worst passports in the world.

The Libyan passport ranked 98th globally, as its holders can travel to only 39 countries without a visa.

According to the index, Libyan passport holders need to obtain prior visas to travel to 153 countries, including developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, in addition to many European countries such as France, Germany and Switzerland.

Although the Libyan passport has advanced three places from last year, when it ranked 101st, it is still among the worst in the world in terms of travel freedom.
