The management of the Libyan national team said that the Zambian Football Association apologized for playing the friendly match that was scheduled with the “Knights of the Mediterranean” on Sunday, at Benina Stadium.

This match was part of the Libyan national team’s preparations for the upcoming match with the Mauritius national team on June 6th of this year in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Milutan Sredovic, the coach of the Libyan national team, announced last Wednesday the official list of the team, which he chose to enter a closed camp in preparation for the resumption of the qualifying campaign.

The list included 28 players, all of them local players, as the coach decided not to rely on any Libyan professional.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has warned its Libyan counterpart and the Ministry of Sports against interventions that may lead to violating the international body’s regulations, threatening to suspend the federation’s activity if violations continue.

This warning from FIFA comes a few days before the Libyan national team’s first two matches in the African continent’s qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

In its letter, which was published by the Libyan Federation on Facebook, FIFA warned the Ministry of Sports that intervention on its part may lead to the suspension of the Libyan Federation’s activities if the violations continued, stressing that the recommendations included in its correspondence must be taken into account.

FIFA said in its letter: “The Ministry of Sports’ letter to the Libyan Football Federation contains instructions regarding the organization of the Federation’s General Assembly, and it also appears to provide instructions regarding the members of the Federation’s General Assembly and their delegates participating in the regular conference, which was scheduled to be held on May 2, 2024, but “It was eventually postponed.”

The Moroccan national team was victorious in its confrontation against the Congolese national team, defeating it 6-0 in a match held yesterday, Tuesday.

The Atlas Lions continued to dominate the match from the beginning, as the team scored a hat-trick in the first twenty minutes of the first half.

Player Ezz El-Din Onahi opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a direct shot, followed by Shadi Riyad with the second goal in the sixteenth minute, and Ayoub El Kaabi added the third goal in the twentieth minute.

Al-Kaabi was not satisfied with that but scored a hat-trick by scoring two additional goals in the second half, while Sufyan Rahimi scored the sixth goal.
