A ‘Boeing’ aircraft operated by South African airline ‘FlySafair’ encountered a technical issue after taking off from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, heading to Cape Town, as it lost one of its rear wheels.

Airport staff told the crew there was noticeable damage to the rear wheel immediately after takeoff, but the plane was able to safely return to the starting point after a two-and-a-half-hour flight.
Airline spokesman Kirby Gordon noted that the Boeing 737 was capable of handling such breakdowns and that the decision to return to Johannesburg was a precaution.
Before landing, the plane maneuvered over the airport to allow technical teams to visually assess the situation, making sure one of the wheels had veered off course.
The company explained that the damaged wheel was part of the left rear landing support, one of a continuous pair.

The First World Conference Against the Israeli Apartheid in Palestine kicked off today in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 10 to 12 May.
The conference aims to strengthen international solidarity and formulate strategies to end the violations suffered by Palestinians.
The conference brings together more than 200 religious and political leaders from around the world and will feature Naledi Pandor, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, and the Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti, along with Declan Kearney of the Northern Ireland Legislative Assembly.
The conference is organized in response to the growing challenges faced by Palestinians and aims to promote global awareness and pressure to end the apartheid policies practiced against them.
United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379, adopted on November 10, 1975, by 72 votes in yes to 35 no (with 32 abstentions), specifies that "Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination."
South Africa filed a "genocide" complaint against Israel and a request to stop its war on Gaza before the International Court of Justice in January 2024.
