В Эфиопии, в одном из самых жарких мест на Земле и самой низкой точке Африки, мужчины племени афар добывают соль с сухого дна озера Ассаль. Они используют те же самые инструменты, что и их предки тысячу лет назад - длинные палки чтобы поднять соляные пласты и топоры для обработки блоков. Крайне высокие температуры и соль повсюду делают эту работу одной из самых каторжных на свете⛏

Afar men mining salt from the dry bottom of Assal lake in one of the hottest places on Earth and the lowest spot in Africa in Ethiopia. They use the same tools as their ancestors did thousand years ago - long sticks to brake off the salt layer and the axe to cut the blocks. With the extremely hot temperature and salt everywhere it appears one of the hard works ever.

🪐 Афар — особый народ восточных кушитов, чей язык и культура родственны сомалийцам и оромо (один из двух основных народов Эфиопии). Они очень традиционны в культуре и вере, о чем свидетельствует сохранность многих древних кушитских анимистических обычаев.
🌋 Жизнь над магматическим очагом не лишена опасностей, и все же афар жили так на протяжении поколений.

🪐The Afar are a distinct Eastern Cushite people, whose language and culture are related to the Somali and Oromo. They are very traditional in culture and belief, retaining many ancient Cushite animistic practices.
🌋 Living above a magma chamber is not without its hazards, and yet the Afar have done so for generations.
