🏜 Наша команда начала своё путешествие по Анголе с аридных земель древнейшей на Земле пустыни Намиб.
🌵 Здесь выживают доисторические растения-эндемики вельвичии, некоторые из которых старше Иисуса Христа, и кочевники невероятного племени мукубал, которые из года в год неуловимо передвигаются по каменистым равнинам Намиба в поисках пропитания для их скота.
Мукубал (кубал) — народ банту, который, как считается, пришёл из восточной Африки и является потомками масаев. И хотя традиция изготовления больших шляп мукубал из бычьих хвостов претерпела изменения, и теперь используются более простые материалы, такие как кустарник, эти люди живут абсолютно традиционно, что проявляется как во внешнем выражении их материальной культуры, так и в образе жизни.
👣 Мукубал непревзойдённые ходоки. Для продажи товара на рынках, женщины проходят по 50 км в день!
От себя добавлю, что мукубал также непревзойдённые фотомодели 👍 А какие тут дают закаты и рассветы, друзья! 🌅
Мы движемся дальше в район Гарганта, где в горах Леба сохранилось несколько сотен представителей племени нгуэнделенго.

🇦🇴OLA FROM ANGOLA! MUKUBAL TRIBE🧑🏿🦲
Ola, amigos! Mzungu speaking.
🏜 Our team began the journey in Angola from the arid lands of the Namib Desert, the oldest desert on Earth.
🌵 Here survives the prehistoric endemic plants of the Welwitschia, some of them are older than Jesus Christ, and the nomads of the incredible Mukubal tribe, who moves elusively year after year across the rocky plains of Namib in search of sustenance for their cattle.
The Mukubal (Kubal) are a Bantu people believed to have come from eastern Africa and to be descendants of the Maasai. Although the tradition of making large Mukubal hats from the tails of oxen has changed (now they use simpler materials such as bush) these people live a completely traditional life, which is reflected both in the external expression of their material culture and in their way of life.
The Mukubal are famous for being outstanding walkers. The women walk 50 km per day to sell their goods in the markets!
From my side I want to add that the Mucubal are also excellent photo-models. 👍 And there are no words to describe how fantastic sunsets and sunrises we meet here! 🌅
We are moving on to the Garganta area, where several hundred members of the Nguendelengo tribe are still preserved in the Leba Mountains.

Друзья, Мзунгу на связи.
Наша международная экспедиционная команда 🇷🇺🇩🇪🇷🇸🇭🇺🇺🇸 продолжает своё путешествие по южной Анголе.
Мы забрались в горы Леба, где на высоте около 2 тысяч метров разбросаны деревни племени нгуэнделенго.
Несмотря на большое количество деревень, большинство из них пустует, а общая численность нгуэнделенго едва ли превышает 300 человек.
Для этого видятся две основные причины.
Первая заключается в их основном способе хозяйствования. Одновременно скотоводы и горные земледельцы, они вынуждены постоянно перемещаться, практикуя сменное земледелие, время от времени оставляя свои поля «под пар». Поэтому периодически нгуэнделенго возвращаются в те деревни, которые они когда то на время покинули.
Вторая причина — их близость к племени мукубал, прежде всего языковая. И хотя язык у нгуэнделенго свой, они и мукубал прекрасно понимают друг друга. Отсюда наличие перекрёстных браков между представителями этих племён. Раньше такие браки не допускались, но теперь стали нормой. Как результат, мукубал ассимилируют нгуэнделенго, что ведёт к исчезновению культуры последних.
Как и другие племена Анголы, нгуэнделенго примечательны своими уникальными прическами. Мальчики все ещё поддерживают (в очень редких случаях) культуры ношения ирокезов, а женщины заплетают в волосы смесь из перемолотой древесной коры и масла из ядра фрукта мупеке. Такая прическа держит форму до трёх недель.
Всё это и дикий ландшафт гор Леба, бесконечно напоминающий мне горы Алантика на границе Камеруна и Нигерии, делают нгуэнделенго одним из наиболее интересных племен в Анголе.
Мы движемся дальше, на юго-восток, в направление территории расселения племен ханда и мумуила.

🇦🇴THE DISAPPEARING NGUENDELENGO TRIBE. ANGOLA👩🏾🦱
Dear friends, Mzungu is in touch.
Our international expedition team 🇷🇺🇩🇪🇷🇸🇭🇺🇺🇸 continues our journey through southern Angola.
We climbed into the Leba Mountains, where there are villages of the Nguendelengo tribe scattered about 2,000 meters high.
Despite the large number of villages, most of them are empty, and the total Nguendelengo population barely exceeds 300 people.
There are two main reasons for this.
The first is their main way of farming. Simultaneously cattlers and mountain farmers have to move frequently, practicing shifted cultivation, occasionally leaving their fields "fallow". Therefore, from time to time the Nguendelengo return to the villages they once left for a time.
The second reason is their closeness to the Mucubal tribe, first of all linguistic. Although the Nguendelengo have their own language, they and the Mucubal understand each other very well. This is why there are cross marriages between these tribes. In the past, such marriages were not allowed, but now they are the norm. As a result, the Mucubal assimilate the Nguendelengo, which leads to the disappearance of the Nguendelengo culture.
Like other Angolan tribes, the Nguendelengo are remarkable for their unique hairstyles. Boys still maintain (on very rare occasions) the iroques wearing culture, and women braid a mixture of ground tree bark and oil from the kernel of the mupeke fruit into their hair. Such a hairstyle holds its shape for up to three weeks.
All this and the wild landscape of the Leba Mountains, which reminds me the Atlantica Mountains on the Cameroon-Nigeria border, make the Nguendelengo one of the most interesting tribes in Angola.
We move further southeast, in the direction of the Handa and Mumuila tribal territories.
