So the cat is finally out of the bag that the reason the UK banned Huawei wasn't because it is a security threat to the west but because the US said so according to a British intelligence official who were present along with the UK delegations had a meeting with the US officials in the cabinet office including Matt Pottinger who blamed China for causing COVID-19. The US pulled a unhinged rant and shouted at the UK delegations for 5 hours straight. The GCHQ along with Boris Johnson initially didn't believe much of the political drivel coming from the US but Boris Johnson barred Huawei from operating in the UK in July 2020 without any consultation or consideration because the US said so and switched to Nokia and Ericsson, removing Huawei equipment by 2027 will cost more than £2bn.
