На 11 сессии подкомитет IMO - Sub-Committee on Safety of Navigation, Communication and Search and Rescue (NCSR) предлагает внести изменения в требования к лоцманскому трапу на основе проведенных исследований IMPA (International Maritime Pilots’ Association). Существуют различные средства передачи лоцмана на судно (Pilot Ladder, Combination, Side door & Pilot ladder, Gangway, Helicopter, Deck to Deck), выявленная статистика по флоту показывает самое слабое место это Pilot Ladder.
