#ICYMI, here’s what you need to know about the upcoming Jurong Region Line (#JRL)! 💡

Once completed, travelling to and from home and work or school in the west will take around half the time of what you’re used to now 😉 Don’t we all love a more connected Singapore? 🤝💙🚅
#ICYMI From rail to roads, our transport infrastructure is becoming greener and more energy-efficient! #GoGreen
As part of our sustainability efforts, we have replaced more than 99% of the High Pressure Sodium (HPS) street lights under LTA to LED ones. 🌱💡

Not only are LED lights more reliable and consume less energy ⚡️, they also last 7 years longer than the HPS lights. 🙌🏽

#MoreToCome In the coming months, we will also introduce a new Remote Control Monitoring System to allow our street lights to be managed remotely, saving more time and maintenance efforts. 🧑🏻‍🔧

#ICYMI Our novel #PlasticRoads at West Coast Highway, PIE & Jalan Buroh hit the news recently for paving the way (literally! 😝) to a greener & more sustainable future!🤩♻️🧴 #FromPlasticWasteToPlasticRoads

However, can plastic additives in road mix withstand our weather conditions? 🤔

#ICYMI The upcoming North-South Corridor (#NSC) will vastly improve travel for everyone in the region - be it motorists, bus commuters, cyclists or pedestrians. 🚌 🚗🚴🏽‍♀️🚶🏻
#RedefiningJourneysForTomorrow

As it passes busy and heavily built-up areas, some disamenities during its construction are inevitable, though we strive to limit inconvenience as much as possible. This includes traffic diversions, which are needed to create space for the works.

🚥 From 30 Apr, the existing junction between Marymount Road, Sin Ming Avenue and Bishan St 22 will be replaced by a roundabout for about a year. This will allow for NSC tunnel works under the existing junction to proceed in a safe and efficient manner.

👀 Check out this visual for more more info on this change and stay tuned for updates.

#ICYMI You’ll get to take a ride on the first batch of new North-South & East-West Lines (#NSEWL) trains from 4 Jun 2023! 💚🚆❤️

Before that, let’s take a look back at where it all began (cues moments where the trains arrived at our shores & moved into their #HomeTruly). 🥹🛳🏠
#ICYMI The upcoming North-South Corridor (#NSC) will not only facilitate smoother journeys via its tunnel and viaduct - it will also transform its surrounding streetscape. With the NSC, the surface streets will have less traffic, and more space will be put aside for walking, cycling, buses and recreation. 🚌🚴🏽‍♀️🚶🏻🌳

#ComingUp Together with the National Parks Board, we will be collaborating with the community and various interest groups through a series of engagements to see how we can enhance these surface streets.🏡

👀 Check out a photo 📸 from our first engagement session today! #StayTuned There’ll be more such sessions to come and we invite all stakeholders to share your views and ideas for enhancing the streets along NSC! 🤝🏼

Earlier this March at #COS2023, we announced the #FriendlyStreets initiative that we would be piloting in 5️⃣ neighbourhoods for safer and more convenient journeys. 🏡

#ICYMI , Friendly Streets are people-friendly road spaces that feature vehicular traffic-calming measures such as widened footpaths, barrier-free crossings, and signalised junctions which prioritise pedestrians.🚶🏻‍♀️They are found near places with high pedestrian and cyclist traffic volume as well as near amenities like markets and schools.

🤝 Together with a taskforce comprising stakeholders from each of the five neighbourhoods, we will be working closely with each local community to roll out each of their Friendly Streets by 2025! 🗓

#ICYMI - We will be starting construction works for the first of five #FriendlyStreets pilot locations! 🎉 This will make daily commutes in our ‘hoods more convenient, safer, and inclusive for everyone - especially for families with children, seniors, and those with mobility needs.

Each neighbourhood will have features co-created with the community, catering to the unique needs of each town. Such features include:

☀️ More barrier-free crossings to improve accessibility;
☀️ Longer crossing times at signalised junctions; and
☀️ Traffic-calming measures e.g. road humps or narrowing road lanes to slow motorists down.

#DidYouKnow By 2030, there’ll be a Friendly Street in every town ? Be sure to look out for these cheerful designs and vibrant colours in your Friendly Street! ☀️😎💖
