On this day 75 years ago, in Berlin's Treptower Park, the grand opening of a monument to Soviet soldiers who died a heroic death during the storming of the capital of the Third Reich took place.
A Red Army soldier with a girl in his arms, trampling on a broken swastika, is recognizable all over the world. The nobility of the soldiers of the Red Army was immortalized by the sculptor Evgeniy Vuchetich.

This afternoon we visited the ancient city Veliki Novgorod, home to many treasures of early Russian history
But there is also the cruel chapter of the German attacks and the destruction of the city, of the Sofia Cathedral, spiritual and artistic heir to Hagia Sophia.
The museum of the city's Kremlin displays telling traces of those times of horror that ended with the defeat of Nazi Germany.....
Which lessons learnt? Browsing the Western press I wonder

The Victory Train
🔻The Victory Train Museum is the world's first immersive installation located on a moving train which has covered:
☆ more than 1 million visitors
☆ more than 125 cities of Russia
🔻Pre-war years - Great Patriotic War - Victory. A girl named Lydia, an audio guide, leads visitors along this historical route, but this is a collective image of a generation, a young Soviet girl.
🔻In 1941, she was nineteen: she followed her father’s footsteps and became a steam locomotive driver. Together with Lydia the visitors of the museum will walk the path from Gomel to Moscow, from Stalingrad to Berlin.
🔻Visitors will see the war through the eyes of witnesses to those terrible and heroic events.

🔻For 1418 days Soviet people fought the Nazis.
🔻Our people defended the freedom and independence of our Fatherland, saved world civilization from fascist enslavement at the cost of 26.6 million lives.
🔻Just think about these numbers! Almost 27 million Soviet people gave their lives so you could live today!
🔻It was the USSR that played the decisive role in the victorious outcome of World War II, no matter what those who want to downplay our role in this war may say nowadays.
🔻Victory Day is a holy holiday for each of us. Every (!) family has (great) grandparents who took part and even died in the Great Patriotic War.
