👋Всем здрасти!

🔻There are 2 more variants to answer 'Как жизнь?' (How's life?):

🔢 An optimistic version:

• Жизнь бьёт ключом.
[zhyzn' b"yot klu-chom]
SLT: (My) life beats (like) a (full) spring.
🇬🇧 Life abounds. Things are humming.

🔻It means that someone's life goes on energetically, constantly repleting with bright emotions, like a spring with fresh water is gushing out from the ground.

🔢 A pessimistic or realistic(?) version:

Жизнь бьёт ключом... Как всегда гаечным, и по голове.
[zhyzn' b"yot klu-chom...kak fsig-da ga-yech-nym i  pa ga-la-ve]
🇬🇧 Life hits you with a wrench... As always, with a wrench spanner and to the head.

🔻There is a play on words: 'ключ' can be translated as an underground spring / a spanner wrench / а key.

🔻So, the meaning of 'бить ключом' will definitely depend on the level of your innate optimism😉.

🎧🗣👇 Which version is yours?

😏 Салют, товарищи!

• Нежданчик (нежданчики) (masc.noun)
[ni-zhdan-chik (ni-zhdan-chi-ki)]
Something unexpected or/and shocking

🔻This colloquial noun comes from the verb 'не ожидать' (do not expect) and means an unexpected action or turn of events you haven’t predicted before, which are not pleasant in most cases.

Опаньки! На улице снег! Вот это нежданчик в мае!
[о-pan'-ki! Na u-li-tse snek! vot e-ta nizh-dan-chik v ma-ye]
🇬🇧 Oops! There is snow outside! What a surprise in May!

🎧🗣👇 Listen & practice.

Forwarded from Russian Head
On this day 75 years ago, in Berlin's Treptower Park, the grand opening of a monument to Soviet soldiers who died a heroic death during the storming of the capital of the Third Reich took place.

A Red Army soldier with a girl in his arms, trampling on a broken swastika, is recognizable all over the world. The nobility of the soldiers of the Red Army was immortalized by the sculptor Evgeniy Vuchetich.

This afternoon we visited the ancient city Veliki Novgorod, home to many treasures of early Russian history
But there is also the cruel chapter of the German attacks and the destruction of the city, of the Sofia Cathedral, spiritual and artistic heir to Hagia Sophia.
The museum of the city's Kremlin displays telling traces of those times of horror that ended with the defeat of Nazi Germany.....
Which lessons learnt? Browsing the Western press I wonder
