Participation in the February 8 Gathering in Paris
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, a group of colleagues from the Hana Human Rights Organization attended the large gathering in Paris with a placard featuring Pakhshan Azizi and Vrisheh Moradi, two Kurdish political prisoners sentenced to death.
The presence of Hanaβs supporters at this event aimed to draw international attention to the alarming situation of these two prisoners and to demand the immediate revocation of their death sentences.
The Prisonersβ Background and Sentencing
Pakhshan Azizi, a social worker and womenβs rights activist, was arrested by Iranβs Ministry of Intelligence in August 2023 and transferred to Evin Prison. She has been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court on charges of βBaghiβ (armed rebellion against the state) and membership in opposition groups. Her family and lawyers have consistently denied these allegations, considering her case an example of the systematic suppression of civil and human rights activists in Iran.ππ

Vrisheh Moradi is also a civil and social activist who has worked to support women and displaced children in Kurdish areas of Syria. He was arrested on similar charges and sentenced to death. His legal status remains unclear, and his family and lawyers have been left without any information about his fate.
At the gathering, protesters held signs with slogans such as βStop Executions,β βFree Pakhshan and Vrisheh,β and βNo to the Death Penaltyβ to express their opposition to these unjust sentences.
International Reactions and Calls for Action
International human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, have condemned these sentences and called for urgent action to revoke Pakhshan Aziziβs death sentence and those of other political prisoners in Iran.
Hana Human Rights Organization has expressed grave concerns about the situation of Pakhshan Azizi and Vrisheh Moradi, strongly condemning the unjust sentences and calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
Hana has urged the United Nations, the European Union, human rights organizations, and all defenders of human rights to take action to prevent the execution of these two Kurdish prisoners.
The organization has also warned that the increasing number of death sentences issued against political, civil, and human rights activists in Iran demands a stronger and more concrete response from the international community.
Hana further called on European governments, particularly France, Germany, and other EU member states, to increase diplomatic pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran to halt these inhumane sentences.
Condemning these harsh verdicts, Hana emphasized that the continued suppression and heavy sentencing of political and social activists in Iran only fuels the cycle of violence and human rights violationsβa trend that must be stopped immediately.

Awareness Statement
Hana Human Rights Organization warns of a new wave of threats and violence against civil activists in Kurdish cities by fundamentalist Salafi groups.
Despite being fully aware of the inherently violent nature of these groups, Iranβs security agencies are deliberately using them to threaten and suppress civil activists, particularly women activists, following the Woman, Life, Freedom movement.
