All the new features that wonโ€™t arrive until iOS 18.1 or later

As you asked, iOS ๐Ÿ“ฑ release date โ€“ September 9,16 or 23 (expected).
The updating is promised to be one of the most awaited and full of new features.

However, Apple showcased at the presentation features that are not coming this fall. But it wasnโ€™t always clear what will arrive in 18.0, and whatโ€™s being saved for later this year or even some time in 2025.

Hereโ€™s the full list of features we know wonโ€™t arrive until iOS 18.1 or later:

๐Ÿง  Shared access to Apple Intelligence and not beta - the feature will roll out on a first-come, first-served basis, and likely won't work outside of the US; removal of the beta status could happen as early as 2025.
๐Ÿ“ง New Mail app features.
๐Ÿ—บ New Siri mode inside third-party apps and task management.
๐Ÿ”— Virtual Display for Mac on ๏ฃฟVision Pro and Multiview support for ๐ŸŽž.
๐Ÿก Editing spatial video in Final Cut Pro.
๐Ÿ“– iPhone Mirroring on Mac (someone asked in the comments why this function isn't working after updating for macOS Sequoia, so that's why).
๐Ÿฆ  New emoji from Unicode 16.
๐Ÿ’ผ New Home app with support for robot vacuum cleaners.

โœ”๏ธ It's not early, it's the company's regular schedule. Traditionally, the announcement will take place in June 2025 at WWDC.

๐Ÿฅฝ Apple Vision Pro to get M5 chip and Apple Intelligence

๐Ÿ“ฐ Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple is developing a new version of its Vision Pro headset that is set to enter mass production in the second half of 2025.

What to expect:

ใƒปNew M5 chip (M2 in the current Vision Pro)
ใƒปUnchanged design
ใƒปAt least $3,499

๐Ÿง  Kuo emphasized that if this new version creates compelling use cases, it could push Vision Pro closer to mainstream adoption. He also speculates on the potential integration of advanced AI models, such as text-to-video capabilities similar to OpenAI's Sora, which could dramatically enhance the Vision Pro experience.

๐Ÿ“† Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also reports that Apple plans to introduce Apple Intelligence features to the Vision Pro headset. While the device is capable of running on-device AI functions such as writing tools, notification summaries, and an upgraded Siri, these features are not expected to arrive in 2024. Instead, Apple may be reserving the Apple Intelligence integration for visionOS 3, potentially launching in 2025.

๐Ÿ”” New OS will be released to update today after 10 am in California

๐Ÿ”œ Average users can try as early as less than twelve hours:

๐Ÿ“ Writing tools which are available across the iPhone, including in Mail, Notes, Pages and in some third-party apps.

๐Ÿฉน New clean-up tool in Photos that can remove people and things spoiling your shot, and uses multiple machine learning tools to leave the background pristine, like they were never there.

๐ŸŽ™ Record and transcribe audio, but remember about automatic notifications to participants. A summary is also generated after the call ends.

๐Ÿ—บ New design for Siri that looks somehow more central to the iPhone experience and will offer a more intuitive interaction.

โ˜๏ธ Spatial photography and spatial video functionality is available in the new spatial camera mode and now available for iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max as well.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ At first, Apple Intelligence on iPhone will only work with devices with language and Siri set to U.S. English. But Apple has already released a developer beta which will extend this to other versions of English. Anyway, now features will not work on iPhones for the Chinese region (dual SIM), nor in the EU.

๐Ÿ’ป While new OS will be coming, new products are also anticipated this week, maybe starting from today!

๐Ÿ€Will see in the European time evening and have a good week everyone :)

๐Ÿฅฝ Apple Vision Pro has been developed since at least 2008

๐Ÿ“† A 2008 patent shows that the company had been working on Vision Pro for at least 15 years before it finally launched. Both the patent drawing and the description of the device are remarkably consistent with the product that finally launched in 2024.

๐Ÿ“ˆ The display technology needed to turn the idea into reality didnโ€™t even exist then, but Apple still had a clear vision of what it wanted to achieve โ€“ and was prepared to keep developing it until it finally was feasible, albeit at a very high price.

๐ŸŒ The big question now is how much longer it will take for the company to be able to offer a more affordable Apple Vision product without making too many compromises along the way. The most recent reporting suggests Apple has put this project on the back-burner for now as it focuses on a 2nd-gen Pro device likely to be powered by an M5 chip.

๐Ÿ Among new features that visionOS 2 brought there is Panoramic productivity with Mac Virtual Display that allows you to use your MacBook display around you.

๐Ÿฅฝ Like many other 'yummy' features from Apple the one above 'coming later this year'. All updates in the new visionOS can be found here.

๐Ÿ“ฑ 19 is six month away

Nine month for a regular users.

๐Ÿ“ธ According to a new video from Jon Prosser (๐Ÿ“บ channel Front Page Tech), iOS 19 will feature a redesigned Camera app inspired by visionOS. The image and the video reveal that the app will allegedly gain translucent menus for various camera controls.

๐Ÿ” The camera controls are split into photo and video categories, with options for recording spatial video, turning on a timer for a photo, and more. Additional controls for video resolution and frame rate pop over at the top of the screen as necessary.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Overall, the new design has a cleaner aesthetic, with more of the Camera app's viewfinder visible on the screen compared to iOS 18.

โ„น๏ธ A previous rumor indicated that iOS 18 would feature a visionOS-like redesign, but that never happened. An alleged screenshot of the Camera app with translucent menus even leaked a few months after that initial rumor, but it appeared to be fake. In the end, perhaps these are changes that Apple was working on for โ€ŒiOS 19โ€Œ instead.
