๐Ÿค Apple and Sony are working to add support for PlayStation VR2 controllers to Vision Pro

Vision Pro's hand-tracking interaction system will be augmented with physical controllers adapted for virtual reality.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Mark Gurman infroms that Apple spent a long time choosing options and finally came to Sony PlayStation for such functionality earlier this year. All this time, work has been underway to add support for the PS VR2's Sense controllers to visionOS. In addition to game support, the controllers will be able to be used to navigate the visionOS system by flipping through content with sticks and selecting objects with a trigger.

๐Ÿ•น This collaboration will take gameplay in Apple's spatial computer to a whole new level. Right now, PS5 and Xbox controllers already work with Vision Pro, but they aren't optimised for virtual reality and don't have the โ€˜six degrees of freedomโ€™ required for spatial interfaces.

๐ŸŽ Apple is also expected to exclusively sell PlayStation Sense VR2 controllers in its shops separately, as Sony itself does not currently sell such controllers without a bundle with the PS VR2 helmet.

๐Ÿฅฝ Apple and Sony could have announced the partnership a month ago, but apparently something went wrong. We can only expect to see an announcement of controller support in Apple Vision Pro in the future, if plans aren't cancelled.

๐ŸงŠ If you feel hot you can cool down with a new 'Ice Dive' immersive

๐Ÿฅฝ Now Apple Vision Pro users can watch a new episode of the "Adventure" series, delving into a freezing underwater dive in the Arctic with athlete Ant Williams.

โ„น๏ธ Ice Dive is the third episode in the Adventure series on the Vision Pro headset. The first Adventure episode, Highlining, was one of the first immersive videos that Apple made available when the Vision Pro launched. Parkour, another episode, launched earlier this year.

๐Ÿฆ– Apple has been working to bring more 3D videos to the Vision Pro over the last few months. There have been new dinosaur-focused Prehistoric Planet episodes, a new Boundless series exploring extraordinary places, a short film called Submerged, and more music-related content.

๐Ÿ‘ Immersive videos are currently one of the main features of the Apple Vision Pro, if you haven't tried it, be sure to test it out, it's pretty fun.

๐Ÿฅฝ 1st-Gen Apple Vision Pro production may have just stopped for good

๐Ÿ“ฐ Apple has likely discontinued production of its Vision Pro headset. According to MacRumors, citing sources involved in the production, the devices produced are enough to meet the current demand until 2025.

๐Ÿ”จ The main problems with the device were the high cost โ€“ $3,500 โ€“ and the number of apps available. For a year, the developers were still unable to meet user demand for unique content for the headset.

๐Ÿ“† What does the future hold for Vision Pro?
Apple is now focusing on developing a more affordable version of the headset. However, by 2026, Apple may introduce an updated Vision Pro with a new chip and design changes.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Apple's 2025 plans from Bloomberg's tech reporter

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman shared a fresh article on Apple's upcoming updates.

๐Ÿ”‰ About HomePad
According to the insider, Apple plans to unveil a new home center โ€œHomePadโ€ in March, but sales could start much later. That's because the device's system (codenamed Pebble) is closely tied to Apple Intelligence's App Intents features, which will only appear in iOS 18.4, meaning the device itself won't be available for sale until the system's release, which is April at the earliest.

More features for the โ€œHomePadโ€ with Apple Intelligence and for other devices in the ecosystem will launch with the โ€œLLM Siriโ€ under development, which will launch in iOS 19, with full access in iOS 19.4 (spring 2026).

๐Ÿฅฝ About Apple Vision Pro 2
The device will be released in 2026, but could be announced later this year. Meanwhile, active production of a new spatial computer with an M5 chip inside could also begin later this year. And at the moment, the more important goal for the company is to release a cheaper version of the Vision Pro.

๐ŸŽง Apple's smart glasses with cameras and AirPods with cameras
These are in the early stages of design, they will NOT be released in the next year.

๐Ÿ“ฒ About iPad
The basic 11th generation iPad may have a simplified A17 Pro chip with 5 GPU cores and 8GB of RAM โ€“ just like the iPad mini (A17 Pro) already has. This way, the company will be able to provide the basic tablet with Apple Intelligence support. The iPad 11 is expected to be released in the spring, along with the iPhone SE4 (aka iPhone 16E).

๐Ÿ‘“ Apple cancels Mac-connected AR smart glasses

๐Ÿ“ฐ Apple is no longer developing augmented reality glasses designed to pair with the Mac, reports Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

๐Ÿชซ The first rumors about such a device appeared in the summer of 2024. Now, according to the latest information, Apple abandoned the development of the project because of the lack of clear product positioning, as well as because of a technical problem: the glasses were draining the battery of the iPhone very much, so in the later stages of design they were planned to use only with Mac.

๐Ÿ“† At the moment Apple will focus its attention only on the direct successor to Apple Vision Pro and its cheaper version. The former device could come out between fall 2025 and summer 2026, while the latter is rumored not to be expected until at least 2027, but due to the cancellation of lightweight AR glasses, a cheaper version of the Vision Pro could come out sooner.

๐Ÿ”œ The new iPhone SE is somewhere on its way

๐ŸŒ The 4th generation iPhone SE is still expected, but plans have shifted for unknown reasons and now it's expected to be announced next week, when the company has scheduled press briefings for new products.

๐Ÿฅฝ Bloomberg also reports that company officials will be contacting the press on Friday (tomorrow) about some sort of announcement for Apple Vision Pro. It may be the launch of PlayStation VR2 Sense controller support. And M4 chip should expect a fresh MacBook Air later in the next few weeks.

๐Ÿคฉ According to some reports, the current versions of the laptops are still very much in store warehouses.

๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚ Earlier, Bloomberg insider predicted the announcement of a new smartphone from Apple on February 11, but on that day, except for the headphones PowerBeats Pro 2, that he also predicted for this date, nothing else was announced.

๏ฃฟ News by Mark Gurman

๐Ÿ—บ 'Smart' Siri delayed
Apple will delay many new Siri features with Apple Intelligence support due to engineering and software bugs discovered during the testing phase. The new features for Siri were originally expected to launch with iOS/iPadOS 18.4 in April, but the release has now been delayed to 18.5, which will be released later this year. As Mark Gurman added, Apple can still add these new features in the iOS 18.4 beta, but they may not make it into the release, continuing testing in the beta as early as 18.5 for the final launch.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Apple is working on a new version of Studio Display 27โ€ miniLED-based display
Scheduled for release by 2026 along with Macs on M5 chips, prototypes of the display codenamed โ€œJ427โ€ are already being tested.
Also, as Ross Young added earlier, so far on the market displays with a resolution of 5120x2880 do not support 120 Hz, so it is likely that the novelty from Apple will also be with 60 Hz. That said, Thunderbolt 5 ports can support 120Hz at 5120x2880 resolution, so hope remains.

๐Ÿฅฝ Vision Pro will get support for Apple Intelligence features as early as visionOS 2.4
Next week's beta software for Apple Vision Pro will include Apple's first AI features, as well as an improved guest mode and a new app for viewing spatial content, 3D panoramas, and images.
