#Russia (one of chief exporters) writes down their harvest forecast.

The crop losses have been eclipsed by supply chain in most folks’ eyes, but these are also ongoing.
Russia considering wheat export quota of 9 million tons

Russia, one of the world’s biggest wheat exporters, has been taking steps to slow sales abroad to curb domestic food inflation. It’s also introduced a floating tax on grain exports, though the measures have had limited effects on total seasonal volumes.

However, the decision will be closely watched in the global wheat market, which is facing increasingly tight supplies after crops around the world were hit by droughts, frost and heavy rain.

Benchmark prices in Chicago reached a nine-year high last month.

Kremlin reveals new independent Russian-Chinese financial systems

Russia and China will develop shared financial structures to enable them to deepen economic ties in a way that foreign states will be unable to influence, the Kremlin has announced following talks between the countries’ leaders.

The move appears to be a response to a series of warnings that Western nations could push to disconnect Russia from the Brussels-based SWIFT financial system as a form of sanctions.

The payment platform underpins the vast majority of international transactions. During the talks on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping called for increasing the share of national currencies in mutual settlements and expanding cooperation to provide Russian and Chinese investors with access to stock markets, said Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s foreign policy advisor.

Russia: potato production comes in more than a half million ton short of expectations due to unfavorable weather (a 200,000 ton drop from 2020).

__
According to the operational information of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, as of November 17, 2021, the potato harvest in the organized sector of the Russian Federation amounted to 6,6 million tons (against 6,8 million tons in 2020).

The result turned out to be lower than planned (the department's experts expected that the country would receive at least 7,15 million tons of potatoes), the main reason for the shortage is unfavorable weather conditions. An emergency regime was introduced in 16 regions of Russia this year, which could not but affect the amount of harvest, the quality of potatoes, as well as the costs of production and the level of provision of certain territories with vegetables and potatoes.

Russia and Ukraine account for 29% of global wheat trade.

If that wheat stops moving, global food supply gets REAL interesting, real fast.

China announces “We are more than happy to buy Russia’s wheat.” Bear in mind they already have more than half of the world’s stocks, and are now reinforcing their own food security by cozying up to Russia.

On Thursday, China’s customs agency approved imports of wheat from all regions of Russia, giving Putin an alternative to Western markets that might be closed under possible sanctions.

Russia is one of the world’s biggest wheat producers but has been shut out of China until now due to concern about possible fungus and other contamination.

The two governments announced an agreement Feb. 8 for China to import Russian wheat and barley after Putin became the highest-profile foreign guest to attend the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Cargill, global farm commodities [FOOD] trader, has confirmed one of its chartered ocean vessels was “hit by a projectile” on the Black Sea. The vessel remained seaworthy [ie didn’t sink], but as you can imagine, no one will be exporting food through this passage at this point.

Indeed, Maersk has halted all port calls in Ukraine.

Bunge Ltd has suspended operations in its Black Sea grains port in Nikolaev, Ukraine.

Video report on effects on world food supply forthcoming - stay tuned @iceagefarmer .

BREAKING: Two more merchant vessels have been hit by missiles. In modern times, I refuse to believe this is an accident. This is an [yet another] attack on shipping.

#1 - Moldova-flagged chemical tanker Millennial Spirit, fired upon by a Russian Navy ship 12 nautical miles south of Ukraine’s Yuzhniy port. However Moldova's Navy then said "the source of the missile launch is unknown.”

#2 - 2020-built panamax Namura Queen, owned by Japan’s Nissen Kaiun, was presumably hit by a rocket at the anchorage of the Yuzhny port.

#3 - [ see previous post ] - Turkish-owned bulk carrier Yasa Jupiter was hit by a missile off the coast of Odessa. The ship is chartered now by Cargill, shipping foodstuffs.

Merchant ships hit by missiles; Grain/fert exports STOP in Ukraine/Russia

Ukraine & Russia grains--30% of world global exports--are no longer moving as three merchant ships have been hit by missiles in the Black Sea, including one chartered by Cargill to move grains. Brazil is frantic after fertilizer imports from Russia are threatened. The global food trade is coming to a screeching halt and food prices are exploding even further as the conflict escalates. Christian breaks down the developments from just the last 48 hours in this Ice Age Farmer special report.

Russian ship seized in English channel for “violating sanctions”

A 416ft commercial ship bound for St Petersburg intercepted in English Channel. Again, this is not a military vessel.

The vessel, which was intercepted by customs officials, was transporting vehicles from Rouen, in France's Normandy region.

Captain Magnin said the boat is 'strongly suspected of being linked to Russian interests targeted by the sanctions'.

These NWO theatrics are destroying global shipping and the global food supply. Black Sea shipping has effectively been shut down yesterday after missile strikes hit three merchant vessels , and now, tit-for-tat, the French have seized a Russian ship.

The Russian embassy in France is seeking explanations from the French authorities.

FOOD CRISIS: EU expects shortages, S. Korea feed producers to declare Force Majeur

The food crisis is here. The EU's agricultural ministers held an emergency meeting, and are set to activate a "EU Food Crisis Contingency Mechanism" in anticipation of the shortages resulting from the blocked 40% of global wheat exports that are no longer flowing from Ukraine/Russia. S. Korea's animal feed producers are preparing to declare force majeur, unable to produce feed wiithout the 300,000 metric tons they'd expected from Ukraine now stuck in the Black Sea. Nations are banning exports to cling to what food stocks they DO have. Things are escalating quickly in the food crisis. Stay tuned to the Ice Age Farmer channel and START GROWING FOOD NOW.

Fertilizer is the most peaceful weapon in wars!”

As I’ve covered, The EU’s Farm-to-Fork program demands farmers not farm all their land in order to continue receiving subsidies (required to be economically viable). The more they don’t cultivate the more money they get.

Germany‘s agriculture minister Cem Özdemir has just confirmed that the EU‘s reforms are to remain in force despite the fact that Ukraine/Russia’s grains, seeds and fertilizer have been cut off.

German farmers are outraged. You do not have to speak his language to feel this man’s passion or understand the urgency and insanity of the situation.

Some of his words translated:
“In the midst of such a catastrophe, green eco-fanaticism … is putting ecological madness before human lives!

"Hunger is murder, Herr Özdemir!

Food rationing has started in #Russia.
Colder temps in Russia cause protein content in wheat to drop - even though the harvest is large, the prices of high-quality wheat are still rising:

__
Poor weather over parts of Russia's main producing regions is likely to mean that the supply of higher protein wheat will remain in relatively tight supply - supporting an increased price gap between quality milling wheats and lower quality grades, trade sources have told Agricensus.

Russia is on course to deliver its biggest ever wheat crop, but higher yields and rains over some of the main Russian producing regions mean the crop currently being harvested is showing more 11.5% or feed grades were harvested so far compared to last year.

The price gap between the 12.5%, 11.5%, and feed wheat grades have been increasing over the last week with a gap of almost $16-17/mt seen between 11.5% and 12.5% grades in coaster-sized CIF Marmara trades last week, but offers on a deep sea port basis have also widened to show the same $17/mt differential.

Russia Sends Combine Harvesters to Occupied Regions of Ukraine

Russia has sent combine harvesters from Crimea to two Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine to cover a shortage of equipment needed to bring in the crop, a representative of a Russian-installed local administration said.

The official said the harvesters were needed because "the equipment that was there before had either been dismantled or taken away by the previous owners outside the regions", he said. [IAF: By those who are consistently working to destroy global food production]

Evgeny Balitsky, head of the occupation administration in Zaporizhzhia, said on social media that these combine harvesters were provided by Russia's agriculture ministry.

Russia promises to provide FREE fertilizer and increased grain exports to “poor countries” — this has been under- [un-] reported in western media:
_

Russia is set to ramp up grain exports, seeking to supply some 30 million tons this year, President Vladimir Putin has announced. The supplies will prioritize less well off and food-insecure nations.

“We believe it to be right to ramp up deliveries to the poorest countries,” Putin said during a meeting of the Security Council on Friday.

“In total, by the end of this year, we will supply some 30 million tons of grain and are ready to increase this volume to 50 million tons or more, because, thank God, we have a good harvest this year,” he added.

Moscow is also ready to supply fertilizers to the poorest nations free of charge, the Russian president said. “Our producers — we’re talking about potash fertilizers – are ready to deliver them free of charge to developing nations that urgently need them,” Putin said, instructing the Russian Foreign Ministry to work on the plan.

Fear of global food shortage looms as Russia steps back from Ukraine grain deal

U.S. President Joe Biden warned that global hunger could increase because of Russia’s suspension of a U.N.-brokered deal to allow safe passage for ships carrying Ukrainian grain.

“It’s really outrageous,” said Biden speaking in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday. “There’s no merit to what they’re doing. The UN negotiated that deal and that should be the end of it.”
Biden spoke hours after Russia announced it would immediately halt participation in the agreement, alleging ghat Ukraine staged a drone attack Saturday against Russia’s Black Sea Fleet ships off the coast of occupied Crimea. Ukraine has denied the attack.
