The first of these chapters will be launched in Toronto under the leadership of Mahboob Bolandi, the founder of Karafarin Canada and iBridges board member.

We are happy to announce that Anousheh Ansari, renowned Iranian American entrepreneur will be speaking at iBRIDGE Toronto conference on July 21.

Anousheh Ansari is CEO of the XPRIZE Foundation, the world’s leader in designing and operating incentive competitions to solve humanity’s grand challenges. Ansari, along with her family, sponsored the organization’s first competition, the Ansari XPRIZE, a $10 million competition that ignited a new era for commercial spaceflight. Since then, she has served on XPRIZE’s Board of Directors.
Prior to being named CEO of XPRIZE, Ansari served as the CEO of Prodea Systems, a leading Internet of Things (IoT) technology firm she co-founded in 2006, and continues to serve as the executive chairwoman. She captured headlines around the world when she embarked upon an 11-day space expedition, accomplishing her childhood dream of becoming the first female private space explorer, first astronaut of Iranian descent, first Muslim woman in space, and fourth private explorer to visit space.

Ansari serves on the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Future Council and has received numerous honors, including the WEF Young Global Leader, Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and STEM Leadership Hall of Fame, among others. She is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and serves on the board of Jabil and Peace First, as well as several other not-for-profit organizations focused on STEM education and youth empowerment.

Ansari also co-founded The Billion Dollar Fund for Women, announced in October 2018 at the Tri Hita Karana (THK) Forum on Sustainable Development in Bali, with a goal of investing $1 billion in women-founded companies by 2020.

She published her memoir, My Dream of Stars, to share her life story as inspiration for young women around the world.

His last IPO, Aquantia, was acquired by Marvell Semiconductors where Faraj stayed on as Executive VP in charge of Marvell’s Networking and Automotive businesses, a billion dollar revenue segment and the largest business at Marvell. Prior to joining Marvell and Aquantia, Faraj was the Co-Founder CEO and the force behind Centillium’s successful track record as a leading innovator of high performance, cost effective semiconductor solutions for broadband access networks. Under his leadership, Centillium went from seed financing to NASDAQ IPO in 3 years, the fastest ever for a semiconductor company. Martin Basiri is Co-Founder and former CEO of ApplyBoard, the world’s largest online international student recruitment platform, and Founder and CEO of Passage, which enables immigrants and international students by providing financial access. Martin, an inventor from a young age, founded his first startup during his undergraduate studies in Iran, where he created and sold six different inventions. His own international student journey began in 2010 where he got his Masters in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Realizing the opportunity international students had at their fingertips, he helped his brothers, Meti and Massi, navigate the same complex process of applying to study abroad, and the three of them founded ApplyBoard in 2015.

Martin served as CEO of ApplyBoard from 2015 to 2022. Under his leadership ApplyBoard grew to a team of 1500+ assisting more than 500,000 students with their study abroad journey from more than 130 countries. During this time ApplyBoard partnered with over 1,600+ schools across Canada, US, UK, Australia and Ireland.
