iBRIDGES as a global hub for high tech entrepreneurs of Iranian descent will hold its 2019 Conference on Fri, July 26th in the beautiful multicultural city of Toronto. This gathering will take place at MaRS Discovery District, the biggest startup hub in Toronto and will be an unparalleled opportunity for entrepreneurs, VCs, and executives from around the world to jointly explore global advances in high tech entrepreneurship.

The conference will be held in conjunction with Tirgan Festival, the largest Iranian cultural festival with over 160,000 visitors from within Canada and around the world, 250+ artists, and 140+ performances, talks, presentations, and workshops.

Pirooz Parvarandeh, COO of Aquantia

Pirooz has served as the Chief Operating Officer of Aquantia since January 2018. He has more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. From January 2015 to January 2018, he served in senior advisory and consulting roles across a broad range of technologies including Roche’s DNA sequencing unit, as well as multiple startups in the biotech, semiconductor, software and systems sectors. From July 1987 to January 2015, he was formerly the Group President and the first CTO at Maxim Integrated, where he spent 27 years building leading-edge technology businesses. During his tenure at Maxim Integrated he helped scale the company from 150 employees, when he joined, to more than 8,000 employees and annual revenue of $2.4 billion. Pirooz held technical and management positions with P&L responsibility for highly profitable business units generating up to $800M per year in revenue. He launched multiple initiatives to enhance innovation at Maxim Integrated and started their Automotive Business Unit, which he grew to well over $100 million annual revenue prior to becoming their CTO in 2009. In 2016, Pirooz launched a non-profit organization name IACP (Iranian Americans’ Contributions Project). He completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA and holds 30 issued and pending patents.

Asieh is an Anchor for CGTN America in Washington, D.C. She comes to CGTN with more than 20 years of experience at CNN, where she served as an anchor for CNNI, a senior writer for HLN, and a contributor to CNN.com.

Namdar has written and reported on many international stories, including the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the tsunami disaster in Asia, the disputed 2009 election and protests in Iran, and typhoon Haiyan as it hit the Philippines in 2013.

Namdar has conducted one-on-one interviews with Nobel Peace-Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Jordan’s Queen Rania, Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and best-selling author Azar Nafisi.

Recently, she spoke one-on-one with Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif, on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.

In 2004, she traveled to ancient city of Bam in Iran for a humanitarian mission after a deadly earthquake. It was her first trip to her native Iran since she left at the age of 12. Asieh has been recognized for her work by numerous Iranian-American organizations.

Asieh is originally from Iran and speaks Farsi fluently. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications. Asieh is married and has two daughters, Leila and Roya.

Dr. Naderi is the former Director for Solar System Exploration at NASA’s JPL where he spent more than 30 years in various technical and senior executive positions. Best known for his leadership of the Mars exploration program, he has contributed to some of the most iconic NASA robotic missions to various corners of solar system. He is a “Fellow” of the American Institute of Aeronautic and Astronautic (AIAA) and has been honored multiple times including NASA’s Outstanding Leadership Medal as well as NASA’s highest award the Distinguished Service Medal. Most notably for his career contributions to space science and exploration, in March 2016, Asteroid 1989 EL1 was renamed Asteroid “Naderi 5515”. He is frequently invited as a keynote & motivational speaker at conferences and workshops where he inspires the audience with wonders of space exploration. His universities talks have taken him to Oxford, Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, University of Toronto, and Duke University among others. Currently, he serves as consultant, and advisor to early-stage startups.

Following the success of iBridge Toronto the iBridges board decided to start launching chapters to connect entrepreneurs of Iranian descent to a global network of mentors, advisors and entrepreneurs. The first of these chapters will be launched in Toronto under the leadership of Mahboob Bolandi, the founder of Karafarin Canada and iBridges board member.
