However, this diplomatic strategy is becoming a manipulative tool for the Chinese Communist Party regime to expand the influence of its dictatorship around the world.

自7.1發起全球聯合行動，各國組織相繼向當地政府表達與中共斷絕姊妹城市的訴求。英國多個城市亦將於10.1舉行聯合行動，以不同形式向地方政府請願及進行國會聯署收集民意。
聯署主要目的:
(1) 提倡英國政府成立獨立咨詢委員會，為本地城市外交提供指引
(2) 建議推行全國公眾咨詢，調查中共有否利用城市合作進行經濟及文化滲透
