香港的自由和公民權利多年來一直受到中國的不斷攻擊，但近來局勢急劇惡化，尤其是在引入嚴厲的新國家安全法後，香港剩餘不多的自由將受到致命威脅。然而，中國在成功破壞香港的民主與民權戰爭後,不僅對香港人來說是可怕的。這也將對世界產生長期影響。如果像中國這樣的專制國家不受控制，民主很可能很快只會成為過去的美夢。

Hong Kong’s freedoms and civil rights have been under constant attack by China for years. The situation has been dramatically deteriorating lately with the introduction of draconian new laws. Yet, China winning its war on democracy and civil rights in Hong Kong would not only be terrible for Hongkongers; it also would have long term consequences on the world. If authoritarian states like China are left unchecked, democracy might soon become a dream of the past.
