The Communist Youth League of China Said Americans Don’t Deserve to Live?
Officials Denied: Fake News, Released by an Unofficial Account

(20 Apr) A screenshot of a response by an account who claimed to be the Communist Youth League in Zhihu (a question-and-answer website) has been circulating on the Internet: “The deaths in America are inevitable. Who told Americans not to start a revolution, overthrow the government and establish socialism? They chose capitalism, so they got to live with it even if they suffer. Objectively speaking, 95% of Americans are oblivious, they don't deserve to live.”

The Communist Youth League later published on its official Weibo account, saying that the content above was fabricated and not published via their official account. The publisher will be held accountable in accordance with the law.

Americans’ Views on China Go From Bad to Worse

A series of recent U.S. public opinion polls show some of the frostiest views ever toward China and indicate growing support for the Biden administration to take tougher stands aimed at influencing Beijing’s behavior.

The polls suggest political rhetoric and negative headlines about China are adding to a rise in negative perceptions about the country, which increasingly focus on human-rights concerns.

A Gallup poll, released early March, put China’s unfavorable view among Americans at 79%, by far the worst reading since its polling began in 1979. Only Iran and North Korea scored worse.

While American views of China had already been hardening in recent years, a clash of ideologies came to a head in 2020 as Covid-19 spread world-wide amid signs Beijing initially played down its seriousness when it was detected there.

American corporations must stop selling out to China’s brutal regime

According to legend, when Vladimir Lenin was asked how he planned to “hang all the capitalists” in the face of a rope shortage in the young Soviet Union, he replied “don’t worry comrade, the capitalists will sell us the rope.”

Though likely apocryphal, the quote captures the spirit of what Lenin wrote more precisely – and just as cold-bloodedly – in a manuscript note:

“They [the capitalists] will furnish credits which will serve us for the support of the Communist Party in their countries and, by supplying us materials and technical equipment which we lack, will restore our military industry necessary for our future attacks against our suppliers. To put it in other words, they will work on the preparation of their own suicide.”

Opinion | Why Is China Coming After Americans Like Me in the U.S.? (Published 2020)

On Thursday, July 30, I fell asleep watching reruns of “Law and Order.” The next morning, I woke up a fugitive.

Chinese state television said that the Hong Kong authorities had issued arrest warrants for six activists who promote democracy for that supposedly semi-autonomous region.

I was one of the six. The charges? “Inciting secession” and “colluding with foreign powers” — part of the National Security Law imposed on July 1 by the Chinese Communist Party. Both crimes are punishable by up to life in prison.

It doesn’t matter that I’ve been an American citizen for 25 years — having left Hong Kong in 1990 to live in the United States.

Uyghur American: I Was Born in a Chinese Reeducation Camp. I Will Always Fight China's Lies.

My mother gave birth to me while in captivity in China. On that day, in that prison called a reeducation camp, I don’t imagine that she could have envisioned the life I would eventually lead.

She could not have known I would obtain a law degree at American University, serve as vice chair for the U.S. Commission of International Religious Freedom, or receive the inaugural Notre Dame Prize for Religious Liberty. But while she may not have seen my future, I do know she had a dream for my life. She dreamt I would live in freedom and that her children’s children would grow up without the heavy burden of traumatic life experiences like torture, silencing or imprisonment.

I have the same dream for my fellow Uyghurs.

Evergrande's crisis was 'a long time coming,' says banned short-seller Andrew Left

Andrew Left, an American short-seller banned from trading in Hong Kong for a damning report he wrote on Evergrande years ago, told CNBC the Chinese property developer's debt crisis was "a long time coming."

But he said he doesn't think Evergrande's situation indicates a widespread problem for China.

Left, the founder of Citron Research, was banned from trading in the Hong Kong markets after he published a 2012 report predicting that Evergrande would soon be insolvent.

His five-year ban ends next month.

First MI5 warning over 'Chinese agent' in Parliament, indicating that European and American intelligence agencies focus on the CCP's United Front

MI5 warned the British Parliament that they suspect Chinese spy Li Zhenju infiltrated and interfered with British politics. Li Zhenju is accused of creating a pro-China political environment through political donations from China and Hong Kong to "influential figures". Although Li Zhenju argued that her participation was aimed at giving a voice to the Chinese in the UK, MI5 pointed out that her activities influences the positions of politicians for the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The incident involved both parties in the opposition and shook the British political arena. The Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, made the MI5 warning public to all MPs. Former Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith immediately made the warning public and asked the government to explain the matter to Parliament. Ed Davey, the leader of the Liberal Democrat Party, who participated in the joint condemnation of the CCP's treatment of Muslims in Xinjiang, was accused of accepting a ÂŁ5,000 donation from Li Zhenju ten years ago. Labour MP Barry Gardiner received more than ÂŁ420,000 within five years and even hired Li Zhenju's son.

Chinese Spies Violate U.S. Sovereignty and Americans’ Rights

A Chinese immigrant found a note stuck in the door of his New Jersey home in September 2018: “If you are willing to go back to mainland [China] and spend 10 years in prison, your wife and children will be all right. That’s the end of this matter!” Welcome to Operation Sky Net, a campaign launched by the Chinese government in 2015 to repatriate overseas “fugitives” through any means.

Under this program, Chinese police and security personnel routinely conduct illegal operations in other countries. Their activities in the U.S. violate their victims’ constitutional rights and make a mockery of our nation’s sovereignty. The U.S. government and law-enforcement community rarely speak out about these acts, much less prosecute the perpetrators. That has to change.
