My undergraduate schoolmate is now living in the United State, but her family is still in Wuhan. She shared in the social media that overseas Wuhan people collected plentiful amount of medical resources overnight, and left no stone unturned in sending all these supplies to their Chinese compatriots. However, Wuhan authority has stated explicitly to not accept any overseas assistance. These supplies are currently stuck in #Changsha and can’t be picked up.

(24 Jan) Rumour says that all the hospitals in Wuhan are battling the government. The city mayor only cares about the numbers looking good so he refrains the reageant from being released, saying the supplies are sufficient.

[Translation of the chat in the images]
-All the hospitals in Wuhan are battling with the government
-What’s happening?
-The hospital and Disease Prevention & Control Centre want to handle things on their own. They are telling the actual situation to media.
-Is this it?
-This Wuhan city mayor is done.
-Look at the first statement.
-What are Expert Investigators?
-Then you look at the 2nd statement.
-What does it mean by trying to distribute reagents to the grassroots?
-And now Wuhan is really lacking supplies.
-Superiors are refraining from distributing reagents because they want the numbers to look good.
-Not lacking
-Not lacking
-What is the government of Hubei province doing really?
-The mayor said we have enough supplies.
-Really
-Bullshit
-He said it on TV

Coronavirus - Fung Hei-kin

(25 Jan) Chan Siu-chee, Secretary of the Food and Health Bureau, and some experts unanimously believe that “the monitoring and prevention measures implemented by the government are in the right direction.” At the end of the meeting minute, the government suggested five “health advices” to the citizens. The last one says, “if there are symptoms of respiratory system infections, one should wear a surgical mask, avoid going to school or to work, avoid going to crowded places, and should see a doctor as soon as possible.”

Yes, you are reading this correct. The government is telling you to wear mask only when all the symptoms occur. In other words, if you are not sick, the government does not recommend that you wear a mask, even just as a preventive measure. Do not forget, the government is now appealing the court’s ruling on the unconstitutionality of the Anti-mask law. Therefore, the government deliberately does not encourage citizens wearing masks. Indeed, a politically correct move.

There is a type of virus, namely king-mentality virus(官狀病毒)*. The patients look like government officers, who enjoy high salaries; yet they are jeopardising the lives of their people. Wuhan’s Coronavirus(冠狀病毒) is scary; Hong Kong’s king-mentality virus is detestable.

*The Chinese character 官 means government officers, the pronunciation of 冠 and 官 is very alike in Cantonese.

Behind the Chinese government’s "Citizen Heros" propaganda, the inescapable reality

"What is happening now is caused by economic pressure." "Am I afraid? Of course I do. I am afraid to see my wife. I am also afraid to visit my parents and my son in my hometown. However, if I don't work, I will be losing 130 Yuan everyday."

Currently, China has already locked down more than 80 cities due to the spread of coronavirus. As the citizens' freedom of movement got restricted, food delivery drivers, peer to peer ride-sharing drivers, and civil servants, become crucial in people's life. They are famed as  "Citizen Heros" on Chinese media, "providing sunshine, warmth and protection in the journey of epidemic prevention and control."

However, these "heroes" are actually full of helplessness. Many of them are from the countryside. They usually carry huge burdens from rents and mortgages and normally are the main source of income for the family. This is the real reason why they became "heroes" in people's eyes during the epidemic.

They are risking their life to work without proper epidemic prevention supplies. A delivery man lamented: "Everyone is making money with their lives!"
