In Face Of Suspension, Head of Students Union Has No Regret in Pro-democracy Fight
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (#UST) Studentsā Union (#SU) was penalised by the university management due to their role in organising the Memorial Service in remembrance of the death of fellow student #AlexChow, repainting a part of the University Road and refusing to remove material that the University deemed as pro-Hong Kong Independence.
Ka-chun MAK, the President and Kai-ho LO, the Vice-President (Internal) of the Students Union were suspended for a semester, had to complete a 72-hour campus service order and were prohibited from using any campus facility.
Mak told InMedia that he wouldnāt regret about what he had done for HKUST and Hong Kong, and that the he became the President of the SU because he wanted to change the politically apathetic campus, so that students of the University could be āproud of HKUSTā outside academic proficiency. He did so also to raise civic consciousness and to take on more responsibility.
During the interview, news came in about the police once again breaking into the campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (#CUHK) and arresting several students.
Mak lamented that one had to weigh the consequences before doing anything then. āWill you be looked into under this circumstance?ā He sighed. He thought that everyone had their own standards in their mind, if they could afford the consequences of the actions they took, they should go ahead, prepared to accept the consequences that follow. āIf you think whatever should be done is worth the legal consequences, then do it.ā

Hongkonger Won Harvard Conference Speech Writing Competition: I want to tell the world about police brutality in Hong Kong
Felix, a university student from Hong Kong, won the Finalist Award of #HPAIR 2021 Harvard Conference Speech Writing Competition in mid-January 2021, among over 300 contestants.
Wearing a yellow hamlet that embodies Hongkongersā belief and courage, Felix told the world how Hong Kong pro-democracy protesters have fought in against police brutality in 2019.
He recounted in his speech some most-remembered events on July 21, August 31 and Oct 1, 2019, including the police shooting of students with live rounds.

Felix said, āyoungsters at my age are being assaulted and injured by the Hong Kong Police. There is no excuse for anyone to stand aside and do nothing. Our fate remains a mystery - some might be imprisoned, others put their lives at risk in the face of police brutality."
"Although the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Carrie Lam once said that we have no stake in the society, our belief in freedom will never be crushed."
"Getting prepared for the competition in 24 hours is never easy. Looking back at the pro-democracy movement in 2019 has been a touching and painful task." Felix said, āthis is like going through the same events once again. I can only describe it as painful.ā
He struggled for multiple times before handing in his speech material. Felix elaborated, āI hesitated when I was about to make this submission. I was concerned about my personal safety and worried that I could be prosecuted by making this speech.ā
At the end of the interview, Felix said, āI call on Hong Kong people to continue the fight and never give up. These crackdowns that we are going through are part of our quest for democracy and are expected even at the beginning of the movement."
"Our efforts are not fruitless. If we give up, our fellow protesters who made sacrifice for this movement will not forgive us. I hope we can all hold on tightly to our belief and carry on fighting."

University Student in Hong Kong Develops a Game to Reenact Yuen Long 7.21 Mob Attack: āThe Reality is As Absurd As a Game Worldā
The Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Protests initiated the democracy movement in Hong Kong since 2019. Although street protests have become scarce, the fight for freedom continues in various creative works.
The July 21 mob attack in Yuen Long, the Lennon Wall and the human chains formed by Hong Kong students and citizens became the inspiration to a computer game developed by #Mighcty, a university student in Hong Kong.
āI hope my game players can know what HongKongers have been experiencing.ā
Mighcty, a graduating university student, created, on his own, āThe Legacy of Daturaā, a 2D minimalist role-playing game:
https://mighcty.itch.io/legacy-of-datura
The protagonist, Cyrus, was an ordinary secondary school student, who gained magical power when accidentally stepping into a world of magic, causing attention from the magical āparliamentā. When Cyrus returned to his won world, he witnessed citizens being attacked in a tran station by a group of armed men dressed in white. He could not help but use his power to save the passengers, thus beginning his adventurous story.
āThe police should uphold justice and protect the citizens, but nothing was done by a organisation who was supposed to be the fairest and most justified," Mighcty said that the 7.21 Yuen Long mob attack in reality ruined his trust in the government. Therefore, he decided to bring in current events into the game which was still in the conceptual stage.
āAt first, I only wanted to develop a game to introduce Hong Kong, such as her tourist spots and food culture. But lately, itās like I donāt know about this Hong Kong anymore. I feel that it is necessary to explain why the city became the way she is now.ā
