Pro-China Supporters tear apart their Expired BNOs

UK Prime Minister Johnson announced on Jun 3 that BNO holders in Hong Kong may be allowed to stay in the UK for 12 months with the right to work, should China impose new national security laws.

A few pro-China supporters went to Hong Kong British Consulate to protest against the UK’s interference with China’s internal affairs. They stated that Hong Kong people do not need BNOs and tore apart their own passports, later known to be expired.

They declared they will only hold HKSAR passports from now on, support 'One Country Two Systems' and the Hong Kong national security law.

One claimed the BNO was just a travel passport, and it does not represent Hong Kong people’s nationality. He said there is no reason to renew his BNO now that Hong Kong is part of China. The same person hoped the UK will stop commenting on BNO and trying to sabotage the China-Hong Kong relationship.

Yet, most members of the group were seen tearing a damaged BNO. Lam explained that he tore his effective BNO earlier in his YouTube video, so he tore his expired BNO during this protest.

Government Representative Stops the Review of Police Report in Yuen Long District Council

The Yuen Long District Council (DC) called for its 3rd special meeting today to discuss an IPCC report on police brutality and the execution of group gathering ban. There were no police representatives and pro-establishment lawmakers present at the meeting.

Staff from the DC Secretariat left the meeting when discussion began on the IPCC report, and turned off the microphone in the meeting room as lawmakers continued their discussion.

A Yuen Long District Officer suggested that since the government’s stance towards these two issues is markedly different from the DC, the agenda should not be included in the DC meeting.

Yuen Long DC Vice Chairman Mak Ip-sing proposed writing a complaint letter to the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) for their absence.

Another Yuen Long District Officer previously wrote to the DC Chairman Wong Wai-yin, defending the HKPF’s action is applicable to all of Hong Kong and not just Yuen Long, therefore the two issues should not be included in the agenda.

On June 4, Secretary for Civil Service Nip Tak-kuen posted on Facebook a video promoting the national security law. He wrote, “Families come after nations. Protecting our country is our responsibility.”

NPC representative Ip Kwok-him suggested earlier that once the national security law is implemented in Hong Kong, the slogan “end one-party dictatorship” may be illegal.

This year’s June Fourth Vigil was banned by the police, and it was uncertain whether the vigil can be held next year after the implementation of the national security law.

Thousands of Hungarians Protest against building a campus of a university from China

On June 5, 2021, over 10,000 people protest the extention of #FudanUniversity from the People's Republic of China (#PRC) to #Budapest, #Hungary.

According to some leaked internal documents, the deal to build a 500,000 sq metre campus with an estimated cost of €1.5bn was signed between Prime Minister #ViktorOrban's government and the Shanghai-based university. It was also revealed that China will lend €1.3bn to Hungary as a loan.

Back in 2019, the University deleted references to "freedom of thought" from its charter.

Moreover, many Hungarians fear that this would become yet another part of China's debt diplomacy. The call for "No Fudan! West, not East!" was displayed at the protest.

Critics call the current pro-China Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban as China and Russia's "Trojan horse" inside the European Union and Nato.

#Hongkongers Defy Police Blockade and Pay Tribute to Victims of 1989 June 4 #TiananmenMassacre

At 12:30am on June 5, 2022, Victoria Park was re-opened after being sealed off since 11pm on June 3.

Tens of Hongkongers entered the park to commemorate the victims of the 1989 June 4 Tiananmrn Square Massacre.

An annual vigil had been held in Hong Kong in Victoria Park until 2020. The police blocked the park for three consecutive years.

After midnight on June 5, 2022, some civilians sat in the football pitch, participating in a non-existent vigil; some lighted up the way with their phone; some displayed a tee shirt that read "students are not rioters" on the ground; some brought with them the miniature of the Statue of the Goddess of Democracy, e-candles, flowers and handbills.

When the police tried to enter the park again, the civilians have already left.
