Chinese netizens go after Trump with AI-generated fake accounts

In recent months, a network of fake Chinese accounts with artificially generated followers has been criticizing US President Donald Trump on various social media channels, US media reported.

According to a research report by Graphika, a company cited by the Washington Post and other US media, these AI generated fake accounts have been bashing the Trump administration on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube since June. At first glance, it doesn't look like there's anything strange about those account profile pictures, but after careful observations, Graphika discovered that they seem to be produced by an AI program that creates fake faces. Pro-China groups then use these synthetic images to create accounts to share and post comments to attract more views.

Graphika says the common features of the account avatars are the blurred background and the position of the eyeballs in the photo. These strange photos are most likely the work of the Generative Adversarial Network (#GAN), a machine learning technology that specializes in creating seemingly real but fake faces. By studying real people and learning how to recreate facial features, GAN generates synthetic faces. The results aren't always perfect, and AI programs often have trouble showing accessories and other objects around facial features. The backgrounds are often left blurred as well.

U.S. State Department Over Pence VP Debate Censorship: "That's What the CCP Does"

Live coverage of U.S. Vice-Presidential Debate was blocked in China when VP Mike Pence became critical of China. The broadcast came back when Democratic VP nominee Kamala Harris started criticizing the Trump administration for its approach to China. The U.S. State Department spokesperson said that it reflects the Communist Party in power does not tolerate any criticism. In the debate, Pence said U.S. have to hold China accountable to the pandemic that ravaged America. He also said the Democratic presidential nominee Biden has been a "cheerleader for communist China".

In a later interview with Fox News, State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus described that China censors "any sort of criticism" of CCP. Live coverage of Pence's comments about China's failure to properly control the pandemic was blocked immediately on TV showing "NO SIGNAL, PLEASE STAND BY". The broadcast returned as the topic changed. "That's What the Chinese Communist Party Does," Ortagus said, "They censor what their people see, and they’re especially sensitive to any criticism of the Communist Party, of its leadership."

In the debate, Pence said "China is to blame for the coronavirus… President Trump is not happy about it." He continued to assure that the Trump administration "will hold China accountable for what they did to America with the coronavirus". He described Biden as a "cheerleader for Communist China", and argued that Biden will "surrender" to Beijing.

Ortagus also noted that Chinese citizens are banned from Twitter, yet their government uses it regularly to criticize U.S. "We often get a chuckle whenever the Communist Party leaders, when my counterparts, you know, tweet at us," she said. "They can criticize me, Mike Pompeo, but they can’t see their own government’s tweets."

Who Should Hong Kong Favor in the US Election? No one.

The branding of the U.S. President Donald Trump as being “tough on China” has attracted a great pool of supporters from anti-China contingents like Hong Kongers and Taiwanese, who hope for his re-election.

We should under and that not everyone casts their votes based on the candidates’ posture toward China alone; voters take into consideration their entire political agenda and how they would serve U.S. national interest. Instead of imposing our views of what the U.S. should do.

Regardless of who wins the U.S. presidency, Hong Kongers must continue advocacy both within and outside of the U.S.

WaPo Pretends A China That Tortures Dissidents And Never Has Free Elections Cam Legitimately Criticise The U.S. Election

The Washington Post amplified Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda from various Chinese state-controlled publication last week. The Post gives the distinct impression that the CCP’s claims, some of which reinforce the progressive predilection of the Post and its readers, are legitimate.

The reality is that the CCP has done nothing to deserve such legitimising “balance”. There is no moral equivalence between Communist a China and the United State. We should be very clear about how China’s political “process” works in contrast to ours. In America, all dissents from the prevailing political orthodoxy get a vote. In Communist a China, dissenters get put up against the wall.

German Minister of Foreign Affairs Call on Biden to Unite against CCP, with the Response from the Head of Chinese Official Media with Foul Language

After the US media predicted that Biden defeated Trump in the President-election yesterday, European leaders came to congratulate Biden, with the prospect of cooperating with the US to confront global issues. Heiko Maas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Germany, have raised a stir with Chinese official media after he published his congratulatory statement.

After the announcement from the media about the victory of Biden, Maas also congratulated Biden in a statement and mentioned his plan to connect with the US government, regarding issues of China, climate change, and the coronavirus pandemic. Maas stated that only if the west come together in unity, would they have the necessary influence to defend their shared values of the world.

In the fear that the west would rebuild their front against China, Chen Weihua, the head of European division of China Daily, posted “The funking Mass” on Twitter yesterday to express his discontent and aggression. He soon deleted his insult, but Thorsten Benner, the founder of Global Public Policy Institute, captured this classic post just in time.
