Latest absurdity in Hong Kong : who should be charged for criminal damage?
In early hours of the morning of May 29, a few pro-Beijing middle-age men were randomly posting flyers promoting the National Security Law nearby the Tsuen Wan Centre, where billposting is apparently prohibited.
Several hours later, at 4am, a male civilian attempted to remove the flyers, but he was arrested by plainclothes officers for criminal damage and was taken away in a police car.

Last June, an Education University student Lo Hiu-yan took her life after expressing her last wish for fellow Hongkongers to go on the fight for freedom and democracy.
Lo jumped from height in Fanling's Ka Fok Estate, after leaving a message concerning "anti-extradition to China" on the wall of the staircase.
On May 29, citizens went to the site to commemorate Lo 11 months since her passing. One card dedicated to Lo reads:

President Tsai Ing-wen: Taiwan will provide more help to Hongkongers in the face of the city’s worsening freedom
Accompanied by Lin Fei-fan, former Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Progressive Party, Taiwan President Tsai ing-wen visited Causeway Bay Books in Taipei on May 29, where she placed a post-it note that read, “Free Taiwan supports a free Hong Kong”.
Lam Wing Kee, owner of the bookshop brought to Tsai’s attention that “many Hongkongers” need assistance from Taiwan government. Tsai responded positively by saying that since anti-ELAB movement last year, “many Taiwanese saw and were moved by HongKongers' unfaltering will in seeking freedom and democracy."

Four out of five “liberal” candidates elected onto Law Society’s governing council in tight contest
Incumbent President of the Law society, Melissa Pang earlier issued many emails calling members to support the five pro-establishment candidates. It was understood that many lawyers attended the meeting raised queries, questioning the appropriateness for Pang to preside the meeting. They also asked Pang to consider not casting her vote. Pang refused respective requests in the meeting.
Although Pang said she was unaware how the e-mail she sent out with her preferred choice of candidates had been leaked out, her action did provoke keen contest that saw more than 30,000 votes casted on May 28.
Such enthusiasm in election, in fact helped the four liberals to win by more than 3,000 votes, than the pro-establishment candidates. That said, among 20 councilors of the Society, liberals are still among the minority, even after taking these four new seats in the Council.
In a statement, the victorious liberal voices - Kenneth Lam, Janet Pang, Michelle Tsoi and Davyd Wong - said they were thankful for their mandate to uphold the rule of law and enhance the transparency and accountability of the Law Society. The wrote on their Facebook page, “in this challenging time, we promise we will try our very best to work hard on those issues and uphold the rule of law.”

While there was no CCTV installed in police car, the prosecution did not provide footage of the incident as evidence for hearing. The defendant denied assaulting the police officer. He claimed that the police officer punched him, while shouting, “why did you assault a police officer?"
He also stated that the police officer said, “you look good when your face is soaked in blood.”
The defendant suffered multiple injuries on his head as well as a fractured nose. However, when he was taken to the police station, the police officers washed the blood stains away and threw the paper towels that were used to clean his blood up in order to avoid leaving any evidence.

According to a new report, solar panels might have a dark side: almost half of the production of a key part of solar panels come from Xinjiang, China — a region of China which activists have flagged as rife with the widespread internment and forced labour of Uyghurs.

Despite political suppression, the group displayed a black cloth, mourning the loss of the freedom of expression in Hong Kong.
The chairperson #ChanPoYing revealed that they originally prepared a banner that read "release all the political prisoners" and "power to the people".
However, one day ago, a pro-democracy radio station was fined by the authorities for "displaying unauthorized slogans". This made the League of Social Justice showcase only a black cloth.
Chan said the message was clear to every Hongkongers, "we never forget, never give up."
