Police Commissioner barred from attending district council meeting as councilors intends to stop government propaganda

In past year, Police representatives attending District Council meetings were repeatedly decried for flouting the Councilors elected by local population. They were found for unreasonably opposing meeting agenda items and documents, and ditching meetings at their own will. When sitting through a meeting, they only act on their own sidestepping questions raised by councilors. When discontented, they even abandon the meeting to talked to media outside the meeting room.

In an attempt to set things right, Kowloon City District Council barred Police Commissioner, Chris Tang from attending their meetings. Kwong Po-yin, vice Chairperson of the Council explained in a radio programme on October 16, 2020 that the new plan was meant to stop the Commission from making use of the Councilors for propaganda and his lust for media exposure.

Kwong said, “knowing that he is coming to hurt you, why would we allow it to happen? He is, after all, a douche.” Kwong’s comment was supported and acclaimed by many.

Series A Club in Italy - Kalidou Koulibaly asked for release of Uyghurs; Chinese Internet Troll: Wish Them All Have Broken Legs such Orangutan!

(02 Oct) China have crushed and persecuted millions of Uyghurs over many years, poor human rights reputation have already spread around the World, Mesut Ozil is blocked by the media in China due to his speech of criticising China persecuted Uyghur in the Twitter. His name could not be found in any press or report in China, superseding by “Number 10”. Last Thursday, Napoli’s defender Koulibaly Koulibaly posted in his Instagram for expressing his support for Uyghur who were detained in the Xinjiang Re-education Camps. However, his behaviour, again, was led to Chinese netizen leaving comment under his Instagram post, some even insult this defender of Napoli as “Oranguton”.

China was alleged to build Re-Education Camps in Xinjiang for the purpose to persuade Uyghur, which have been leading to many supports for Uyghur from SportStars. Time to express support from Koulibaly on Instagram: “Millions Uyghur Muslim are detained and tortured in concentration camps in China. Not for what they do, but for who they are. This is the largest scale of imprison in 21th Century, it must be ended!”

China netizens immediately attacked Koulibaly by leaving comments in his Instagram post:”an Orangutan have not yet evoluted”, “object with Cerebral Palsy broke your legs”, “You are also brain-washed by overseas media, innocent please don’t speak bullshit”. It is believed that media in China will use the same way to block this defender of Napoli, by naming him as “number 26”, after Koulibaly supporting Uyghur in Instagram.

Apart from Koulibaly, a football star from French, Franck Ribery, also publish relevant post in Instagram, to stand with Koulibaly for expressing their support for Uyghur. But Ribery expected the attack from Chinese netizen, so that he had closed the leaving comment function in advanced.

Japan to Strengthen Student Visa Screening Against CCP Tech Theft

Japan to Strengthen Student Visa Screening Against CCP Tech Theft

Japan is reportedly considering joining the UK and the US in tightening visa access for foreign students to keep out CCP tech spies. The Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun reported that for economic safety reasons, Japan will strengthen visa screening for international students and foreign researchers starting next year. This measure is to prevent high-end technology and information relating to national security from leaking into China or other countries.

Costing 220 million yen (about 2 million US dollars), the new gatekeeping mechanism will be a coordinated effort involving departments including the National Security Secretariat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Defence. Information about suspicious persons will be shared among these agencies.

While some officials noted that the measure might not be as strict as that of the US, they are worried that Japan will be the next target for Chinese students rejected by America. They are also worried that a lack of a mechanism preventing the outflow of sensitive technology will impede research cooperation between Japanese students and American institutions. Just this July, four Chinese expats under the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were exposed to have forged their identities to obtain visas for conducting research in American universities.

As world powers race to gain a foothold in artificial intelligence and laser weaponry, the Ministry of Defence is also considering engaging an economic security intelligence officer. Working at the Bureau of Defence Policy, they will be tasked with analyzing developments of cutting-edge technology around the world and taking measures to protect Japan’s high-end technology. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will spend 1.87 billion yen (about 17.7 million US dollars) to encourage companies and universities to better manage cutting-edge technology and prevent sensitive military technology from leaking.

As it becomes clearer that the CCP is stealing sensitive technology across the globe, it is also clear that the tech war between the US and China has spread to countries like the UK, Australia, and Japan. With the ‘Made in China 2025’ strategic plan failing amid the trade war and the CCP pushing for domestically manufactured chips, it is only natural that the world steps up screening to prevent tech theft by China through mergers and espionage.

Hong Kong National Security Law: Joint Statement by 39 Nations Urges China to Protect Hong Kong’s Autonomy, Claudia Mo Says the Law Obviously "Went Too Far"

On Tuesday (Oct 6), Germany delivered a joint statement on behalf of 39 countries, including the US, the UK and France, at the Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, raising their deep concerns over China’s human rights records and the erosion of freedom in Hong Kong. The signatories of the statement rose from 23 countries to 39 this year, which Human Rights Watch welcomed. A Hong Kong Legco member opined that the statement reflected that the CCP’s forced implementation of the national security law in Hong Kong seriously trampled the universal values of democratic countries. The Hong Kong government’s direct denial of the separation of power earlier also prompted democratic countries to re-evaluate Hong Kong’s status as an international society.

Christoph Heusgen, Permanent Representative of Germany to the UN, issued a joint statement on behalf of allies during the 75th UN General Assembly Third Committee General Debate, a session dedicated to social, humanitarian and cultural issues. The countries expressed deep concerns over the Hong Kong national security law. They also called on Beijing to protect the autonomy, rights and freedoms in Hong Kong and to respect the independence of the Hong Kong judiciary. In the statement, the countries raised concerns over China’s establishment of “re-education camps” in Xinjiang and suppression of Uyghur Muslim minorities as well. It pointed out that “Widespread surveillance disproportionately continues to target Uyghurs and other minorities and more reports are emerging of forced labour and forced birth control including sterilization”, and urged Beijing to “allow immediate, meaningful and unfettered access to Xinjiang for independent observers”.

The signatories include Albania, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Haiti, Honduras, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Marshall Islands, Monaco, Nauru, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Palau, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, the US and Germany. Former Permanent Representative of the UK to the UN Karen Pierce issued a similar statement on behalf of 23 countries at the Third Committee in the previous year. The signatories rose to 39 countries this year, which was welcomed by human rights organisations. Louis Charbonneau, the United Nations director at Human Rights Watch, said, “The 39 states took a stand despite China’s persistent threats and intimidation tactics against those who speak out.”

CCTV stated today (9th October), “Basketball has a broad mass base and viewing demand in China”. As a result, the CCTV Sports Channel would resume broadcasting the NBA competitions as “normal broadcast arrangement” on the morning of 10th October, Hong Kong time.
