Carrie Lam Insists On Using CCP Terminology

China sent a mobile cabin hospital support team to Hong Kong, which repeatedly insisted the set-up of a Hong Kong mobile cabin hospital. However, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) representatives including Chuang Shuk-kwan and Lau Ka-hin denied the statement.

Hong Kong Hospital Authority director Deacon Yeung stated in an interview that the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) will not become a mobile cabin hospital or what China said a "Huoshenshan hospital". Instead, it will just be treated as an isolation facility. Yet, Chief Executive Carrie Lam continued to call it “mobile cabin hospital” and “Huoshenshan”, following the Chinese Communist Party government's terminology, in a press conference.

Yeung said that the HA is prepared for the third outbreak in March. The most serious patients will be treated in hospitals, while less serious patient will be treated in isolation facilities. Beds in these isolation facilities can be arranged in a flexible manner to suit the needs of the public. Yuen mentioned that only 20% of patients must be admitted to hospitals, and the rest can be treated in isolation facilities.

Sheng Kung Hui Holy Trinity Cathedral prays for introducing medical staff from mainland China, suddenly deletes content about praying for National Security Law

(1 Aug) Sheng Kung Hui Holy Trinity Cathedral, in its latest instalment of the weekly magazine “9th Day of the Pentecost”, originally had included prayer items to “pray that the national security law can bring a prosperous and stable future to Hong Kong, pray for the steady enforcements despite the difficulties, and pray for the successful implementation of such laws in the areas of politics, economics, legal aspects and people’s livelihood” in the “Social, country and the world” section of its weekly prayer topics. However, the aforementioned content was found deleted in the online version of the magazine.

In addition, although there has been heated debates around whether Hong Kong should introduce medical staff from mainland China to assist in dealing with the virus, in the latest weekly prayer topics of the Cathedral, the controversial topic “pray for the high feasibility for Hong Kong to introduce excellent mainland doctors to combat the virus along with local doctors” still remains .

Hong Kong Anglican Church to "consolidate" schools by establishing education department, board of directors include three CPPCC members including Paul Kwong and Canon Koon, church members fear governance unification

(1 Aug)The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (SKH) [or the Hong Kong Anglican Church] presently runs 32 secondary schools, 60 primary schools and 30 kindergartens, bringing the total to more than 120 schools altogether. They include traditional elite schools like Diocesan, Heep Yunn, St. Paul's Co-Educational College. These schools under the SKH may undergo some changes in management. Paul Kwong, the Archbishop and Primate of the Province of Hong Kong who will soon retire, stated that the SKH will establish an "education department" to consolidate the currently separate management teams of secondary and primary schools and kindergartens into one "to serve as the only voice of opinion for external communication".

//The board of directors in the upper layer will only be open to those with official posts in the church

//facilitating patriotic education would diminish diversity in Hong Kong's schools.

//the education department's role as the sole mouthpiece would make it difficult to avoid influencing the diversity of schools... it will be difficult to not enforce their values."

//the [pro-Beijing] Alliance for Peace and Democracy, which set up a whistleblowing hotline during Occupy Central in 2014. It exposed and divulged information of the students who participated in strikes to their schools.

//it was critical not to centralise.
