Grandma Wong Holding Flowers High Despite Threat of Arrest by the Police

1937 | #PrinceEdward

Yesterday (29 Nov), it was reported that Hong Kong police will arrest any civilians paying tribute outside the Prince Edward Station starting from Nov 30, 2020.

A large amount of uniformed police were deployed near Prince Edward Station, blocking civilians' way to pay tribute and commemorate to victims of the 8.31 Attack outside.

Despite the hindrance, Grandma Wong, an active participant of the pro-democracy protests, was seen holding a yellow umbrella and the flowers high.

15 Months After Police Attack: Prince Edward MTR Surrounded by a Different Sea of White

1945 | Prince Edward

Nov 30, 2020 marks 15 months since the 8.31 Prince Edward Station attack, and the first one since the police announced cracking down on flower offerings at the MTR exit.

The same fences that were decorated with white flowers in previous months are lined with police officers in white uniforms tonight.

While citizens are no longer allowed to lay down flowers - on threat of an immediate littering fine - the image of a sea of white memorializing the victims of that night's police brutality has, ironically, returned once again.
