A Chinese exile, Yu Jie, published a book called “Chinazi” (Direct translation of: 納粹中國 ISBN 9789869520096) last year. Just as the title of the book suggested, it draws parallels between modern China and that of German Nazi Party. China’s Nazism is no longer future tense when we’re living in Hong Kong in 2019, and #Chinazi has gained popularity on Twitter and Instagram over the past month.

1. The Nazi vs the Chinese
Nazi Germany murdered up to 26 million people according to the maximum estimation.
The Great Leap Forward* has resulted in up to 30 million lives in China.
*Great Leap Forward (1958-1960) is Mao’s attempt to modernize China’s economy which resulted in economic devastation causing millions of deaths including a famine due to misguided polices.

2. Approach in Governance
Nazism is officially known as the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.
China’s Political ideology puts sovereignty of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) above everything else, pursuing their dream of rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. In addition, the constitution specifies that China is practicing “Socialism with Chinese characteristics”, a “far-left” style of governance under the “Xi Jinping Thought”, also known as “Xism”. This makes China fully in line with the Nazi’s definition of far-right fascist regime.

3. Concentration Camps and Imprisonment
German Nazi built numerous concentration camps across Europe where millions lost their lives.
The CCP installed a face-recognition surveillance system in Xinjiang, which effectively makes it the largest concentration camp since WWII. The system will alert authorities when suspects on the watch list stray 300m more from their home or workplace.

Liu Xiaobo, who was a Chinese writer and a human rights activist, was facing 11 years of imprisonment when he was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize for his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China. He died in custody as a political prisoner in China in 2017.

4. Anti-Semitism
The Nazis used Anti-Semitism as a propaganda tool against the Jewish people.
Examples of anti-Semitic incidents include:
- Boycott Jewish businesses
- Jewish were expelled from schools and university.
- Jewish people were not allowed to be journalists, newspaper editors or civil servants
- Jewish lawyers and judges were dragged out of their offices and beaten

The Chinese government is demonstrating a similar anti-Jewish propaganda style to Hong Kongers.

- “cleansing of political ethnicity” of Hong Kong people within large corporate firms such as Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Airlines, which sets an example to the other industries in Hong Kong.
-Blocking all news about Hong Kong in China and creating fake news to citizens in mainland China. They have ordered all media / communication outlets to:
1) Strictly prohibit direct reporting on any demand of democratic freedom by the Hongkongers
2) Strictly prohibit direct reporting of any citizens who show support or is compassionate towards Hongkongers
3) Block and delete all media of Hong Kong protestors who were publicly apologizing to the passengers that were held up in the airport
4) Make full use of government’s power to create noise, to stir up emptions, and to take full control in the regulation of traditional media and our strength over social media content. Label and characterize the incident as “The fight between Chinese patriotism and Hong Kong independence”; “the war of peace vs violence”; and “the war between legal system vs civil unrest.”
The Chinese government outperforms the Nazis as we have not really heard any news in the past that German students or immigrants harassed or even attacked Jewish rallies outside Germany; or grumble loudly and force university and publishers around the world to make “amendments” when the colour of Austria or Czechoslovakia indicated on the map is not of Germany’s colours; or even forcing candidates from various levels to agree to “One Germany” principal by using various ways to affect local elections in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Central America etc. What the world is facing right now is a Nazi regime who is confining 14 billion people who is armed with nuclear weapons. It’s not hard to imagine how painful this is right now for HongKongers, who are standing up against totalitarianism with their bare hands. It is comparable with the “White Rose” resistance group led by the group of students and a professor at the Univeristy of Munich during the Nazi era. They conducted leaflet and graffiti campaign in opposition to the regime. They were only able to release six leaflets before they were arrested and sentenced to death by the Nazi secret police. Totalitarianism has no place in this world, the Nazis fell, and the CCP will not be an exception.

Uyghur women sterilized by China

In China's Uyghur detention camps, former detainees have told of torture, beatings and electrocution as well as being forced to eat pork, attend political re-education lessons and sing political songs. It is also revealed that Uyghur Muslim women are being sterilized (*watch video from the first link*)

Researchers have claimed the facilities are being run like “wartime concentration camps” as part of a “systematic campaign of social re-engineering and cultural genocide”.

Gulbahar Jalilova, who was held for more than a year in government, recounted that up to 50 people were packed into a cell measuring just 10ft by 20ft. Women were forced to received injection: “We had to stick our arms out through a small opening in the door,” she said. ”We soon realized that after our injections that we didn’t get our periods any more.”

A similar account was given by 30-year-old Mehrigul Tursun who were given drugs and injections in the camp. She said she felt “tired for about a week, lost my memories and felt depressed” and was released four months later after being diagnosed as being mentally ill.

The Population Research Institute accused China of forced sterilization on a large scale.

“The current Uyghur population is less than 1 per cent of China’s total population,” the group said. “To restrict and control the natural growth of a population of this size in any country is to totally annihilate and genocide them.

The Chinese government however has described the detention camps as “boarding schools” offering vocational training and rejected allegations of torture and other abuses as “fake news”. It was reported that China is building even more secret camps.

Tibetians forced to worship Xi Jinping and Mao Zedong

It was reported that in December 2018 that tibetians were forced to “clean up” images of the Dalai Lama in their homes, Buddhist temples and monasteries and replace them with portraits of Xi Jinping and Mao Zedong.

As the pressure increases, PRC threatens to cut off some families’ subsidies if they don’t comply. In certain areas, officials even go house to house to check that the photos of Xi and Mao are on the altar.

China's Boycott on Tai Pan: Snowy Mooncake to be “Indefinitely “Frozen”

Chinese netizens called for a boycott of Tai Pan’s products after the founder’s son Garic Kwok voiced his suppor to Hong Kong Protests. His post in Facebook was quickly denounced by the Global Times and People’s Daily. Shortly after the blame, major B2C sites like Taobao, Tmall and JD.com pulled all Tai Pan’s product out from the platform, including the best-selling “Snowy Mooncake”, 2 weeks before the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Tai Pan and Garic Kwok have issued statement to clarify his personal speech is irrelevant to the company stance, but the damage to company is undone. The products are still taken off the shelves now. It is believed that the revenue of the company will be hit severely because of blacklisting online.

Zara in Terror: Suspected Support to General Strike Brought Accusation from China State Media

Entering the 14th week of the #antiELAB Protests, citizens called for a 2-day general strike to ask the government to positively response to their five demands. A few Zara stores which suspended operations without explanation were immediately condemned by the State Media Global Times. The Chinese Communist Youth League also suspected Zara’s intention.

Amidst the white terror, Zara rushed out to their Weibo to clarify they had never supported any kind of strike or protest, and they advocated “One Country, Two Systems” and the sovereignty of China. They also explained that the arrangement was made solely due to transportation condition.

The Rise of Totalitarianism: Of the Incubation of Nazi Germany and Communist China

After the First World War, Germany was isolated and sanctioned by the world. Some said that had brought inflation, economic loss, as well as the lack of transparency and communication between countries, giving rise to populism, Nazism, and finally the Second World War (almost as a necessary consequence).

To a large extent, self-scrutiny allows one to gaze into the inner abyss (in Nietzschean sense), or to cope with the collective trauma after the Second World War.

Despite that many have started to call Communist China "Chinazi", the contemporary German government seems to vigorously avoid sanctioning the Chinese government.

Whether it is China's concentration camps for the Uyghurs or national security law for Hong Kong, perhaps Germany has hoped that the Chinese Communist Party will not repeat the genocides committed by Nazi Germany.

But is this not how British Prime Minister Chamberlain had misjudged, if not 'underestimated', Nazi Germany?

Perhaps the ones expecting those who are committing atrocities to listen to rational voices are filled with excessively optimistic illusions about this world.

If we want to learn from history, should we not explore how Nazi Germany delayed and denied the goodwill sent by others in order to satisfy its aggressive desire?

Perhaps the cause and effect will really endlessly run back. And Merkel, like the red queen in Through the Looking-Glass, is running to stay in the same place.

Back then, Nazi Germany, which gradually grew through the goodwill and appeasement extended by Chamberlain. It is now when the Chinese Communist Party, by getting just another bite of the only friendly face in the free world, steadily invades the neighbours.

Maybe this is how karma runs.

Video Shows the Horror of China's So-Called "Education Camp" in Uyghur

Released on Oct 10, 2020, the video shows a frail Uyghur man 'returning' from what the Chinese Communist Party government called "education camp".

The man was in a condition that he cannot walk on his own and had to be carried by another person. The health of the man is equally worrying.

The original Tweet about the video compares the traumatic scene to Holocaust caused by the #Nazi:

Uighurs forced to eat pork as China expands Xinjiang pig farms

Sayragul Sautbay, who was detained in a re-education camp in China’s westernmost region of Xinjiang, still suffers from nightmares and flashbacks from the “humiliation and violence” she endured.

"Every Friday, we were forced to eat pork meat,” Sautbay said. “They have intentionally chosen a day that is holy for the Muslims. And if you reject it, you would get a harsh punishment.”

She added that the policy was designed to inflict shame and guilt on the Muslim detainees and that it was “difficult to explain in words” the emotions she had every time she ate the meat.

Danish politician admits fear of personal safety, alleging threats from CCP

Ted Hui, a prominent pro-democracy lawmaker in Hong Kong, who was heavily involved in the anti-ELAB movement went into an exile in the UK in December 2020. Several Danish politicians reportedly offered Hui their assistance. Among them was Anders Storgaard, ex-chairman of the Danish Conservative Youth Committee.

On March 6, Storgaard wrote on his Facebook, stating that a month ago, he received a phone call from local police in Denmark. The officer reminded him that if he is going to leave Denmark in the future, he should first coordinate with Danish intelligence agencies.

Storgaard admitted that he was startled to learn that his personal safety is in danger and he felt his body tremble when hearing the news.

Storgaard expressed that he enjoys international political affairs which brought to him unique experiences like involvement in Turkish hegemonism. However, owing to safety concern, he has to withdraw from most of these involvement.

Although Storgaard did not mention that the threat was coming from the CCP in China, he did pointed out that threats are means commonly deployed to silence dissidents in China. Storgaard stressed that it is wrong to think that he would be silenced.

He further elaborated that his sacrifice is insignificant compared to the young protesters in Hong Kong who risked their lives for democracy. He felt no regrets.

'Some are just
#psychopaths': Chinese detective in exile reveals extent of torture against #Uyghurs

//The ex-detective turned #whistleblower asked to be identified only as Jiang, to protect his family members who remain in China.

In a three-hour interview with CNN, conducted in Europe where he is now in exile, Jiang revealed rare details on what he described as a systematic campaign of torture against ethnic Uyghurs in the region's detention camp system, claims China has denied for years.

"Kick them, beat them (until they're) bruised and swollen," Jiang said, recalling how he and his colleagues used to interrogate detainees in police detention centers. "Until they kneel on the floor crying."

The methods included shackling people to a metal or wooden "tiger chair" -- chairs designed to immobilize suspects -- hanging people from the ceiling, sexual violence, electrocutions, and waterboarding. Inmates were often forced to stay awake for days, and denied food and water, he said.

"Everyone uses different methods. Some even use a wrecking bar, or iron chains with locks," Jiang said. "Police would step on the suspect's face and tell him to confess."

The suspects were accused of terror offenses, said Jiang, but he believes that "none" of the hundreds of prisoners he was involved in arresting had committed a crime. "They are ordinary people," he said.//

//...During the routine overnight operations, Jiang said they would be given lists of names of people to round up, as part of orders to meet official quotas on the numbers of Uyghurs to detain.

"It's all planned, and it has a system," Jiang said. "Everyone needs to hit a target."

If anyone resisted arrest, the police officers would "hold the gun against his head and say do not move. If you move, you will be killed."

He said teams of police officers would also search people's houses and download the data from their computers and phones.

Another tactic was to use the area's neighborhood committee to call the local population together for a meeting with the village chief, before detaining them en masse.

Describing the time as a "combat period," Jiang said officials treated Xinjiang like a war zone, and police officers were told that Uyghurs were enemies of the state.

He said it was common knowledge among police officers that 900,000 Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities were detained in the region in a single year.

Jiang said if he had resisted the process, he would have been arrested, too.

Inside the police detention centers, the main goal was to extract a confession from detainees, with sexual torture being one of the tactics, Jiang said.

"If you want people to confess, you use the electric baton with two sharp tips on top," Jiang said. "We would tie two electrical wires on the tips and set the wires on their genitals while the person is tied up."

He admitted he often had to play "bad cop" during interrogations but said he avoided the worst of the violence, unlike some of his colleagues.

"Some people see this as a job, some are just psychopaths," he said.

One "very common measure" of torture and dehumanization was for guards to order prisoners to rape and abuse the new male inmates, Jiang said.//

Hong Kong Authority Introduces #SmartPrison with 24-hour #HD Surveillance, Detainee: I Live As an Animal

"Here, it is even worse than the CIC [Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre],"
almost every detainee in Tai Tam Gap Correctional Institution in Hong Kong said the same thing.

In 2020, around 30 detainees in #CIC went on a hunger strike, protesting against their unlimited detention time, the facility's poor hygiene, and the inappropriate behavior of the correctional department staff.

The CIC Concern Group, a non-profit human rights group, was thereafter created by a group of social workers, pro-demoncracy activists and volunteers in Hong Kong; however, even them could not believe that there exists a detention centre in Hong Kong that is worse than the CIC.

In June 2021, the Hong Kong authority transferred some of the protesting detainees in the CIC to the Tai Tam Gap Correctional Institution.

The newly established facility is the first "Smart Prison" in Hong Kong. This institution is full of HD surveillance cameras. All the detainees are required to wear an electronic bracelet for the authority to monitor their heartbeats and locations.

Those who are detained in the centre are thereoretically not prisoners, as they have only violated the immigration regulation; however, they are being detained in a prison.

To make it worse, the Correctional Service Department (#CSD) has already dispatched twice the Regional Response Team, Panther, within 4 months, to "combat illegal activities". It was found that some detainees have been placed in individual detention for 2 months.

Meanwhile, it was discovered that some correctional department staff have been watching the surveillance canera footage like a voyeur , followed by acts like masturbation and ridiculing the detainees.

A detainee said, "I live as an animal."

The CIC concerned group criticised that the authority has abused the detainees by means of violence, individual detention and privacy infringement.

The group's worst fear is that using the most disadvantaged detainees as guinea pigs is only the first step of the government and that the same operation systen would be appled to all prisons in Hong Kong next.

"The government labelled the CIC detainees as very dangerous to justify the need for an upgrade in military equipment. They can do thr sane thing in any prisons in Hong Kong."

Leaked list reveals details of over 10,000 #Uyghurs detained in China’s #Xinjiang province

//Researchers estimate over one million Uyghurs and other mostly Muslim minorities are being held in a secretive network of detention centres and prisons, ostensibly as part of an anti-terrorism campaign after a series of attacks.

Yet information on the crackdown in Xinjiang region -- and those who have been ensnared by it -- is closely guarded by China's Communist authorities.

The previously unreported database, which has been seen by AFP, lists over 10,000 imprisoned Uyghurs from southwestern Xinjiang's Konasheher county.

A second suspected leaked police database seen by AFP identifies another 18,000 Uyghurs, mostly from Kashgar and Aksu prefectures, detained between 2008 and 2015...//
