🇨🇴Eruption of Puracé Volcano in Colombia: Ash Covers the Region

🌋 On January 19, 2025, the Puracé Volcano, located in the Cauca Department of Colombia, erupted, releasing ash and volcanic gases into the atmosphere. The eruption caused a significant layer of ash to spread to nearby areas, including the department's capital, Popayán.

‼️ By January 20, locals reported streets, buildings, and vegetation covered in ash, making daily life and transportation more challenging. Emergency services advised wearing masks and limiting outdoor activities to protect public health.

Experts continue to monitor the volcano's activity, assessing potential further risks to the population.

🇯🇵 Sakurajima Volcano Activity Intensifies

🌋 Recently, the activity of Sakurajima volcano has increased. Its typical activity ranges from strong Strombolian eruptions to major ash emissions every 4–24 hours. The volcano is a historically active center of the larger Aira Caldera volcanic complex.

⚠️ A powerful ash eruption, accompanied by volcanic bombs and lightning, was captured on camera on January 30, 2025. This eruption led to reduced visibility and deteriorated air quality in the surrounding areas. Local authorities have issued warnings and continue to monitor the situation closely.
