Remember that AI that Microsoft was trying to sneak onto your computer that will screenshot and analyze everything? Well, it's not optional, bchz! π
Early this morning, Microsoft confirmed in a statement to The Verge that last weekβs Windows 11 24H2 update, KB5041865, had not added the ability to uninstall Recall in the βTurn Windows features on or offβ dialog and that its addition to that menu was a bug that will soon be fixed. It should be noted that this bugged option to uninstall Recall was also added before Recall itself, so it had no actual functionality besides (seemingly) being a way to opt out ahead of time. Once shipped, Recall will also be something Windows users can disable but not entirely remove.
Because you don't own your computer, it owns you π

The reason: COMPUTE SHADERS! All these games are rebuilding the world around with intensive GPU usage. It's smart, it allows impressive foliage density, but the system is very sensitive to errors.
Poorly overclocked RAM, dying SSD, unstable VRAM, or bad system update β and their computational core falls apart. It's not their fault, since it could be either fast or resilient to errors, but still curious.

Windows 24H2 update caused dozens of models of laptops and handheld devices to get bricked: some require SSD replacement, some just re-installation of the OS. Do not upgrade to 24H2.

Windows 11 update is (yet again) causing hardware issues. Right now any USB and BT device can cause system to crash, freeze, or glitch along the way. Mostly it's related to hardware that uses DAC (audio devices, web cameras, and so on).
It seems that the issue comes from KB5050009 (24H2, OS Build 26100.2894) and there is no ETA for the fix. The only solution for now is to stop using such devices, or try other USB ports.

It seems that AI Windows laptops have failed miserably and Apple is falling right behind:
The majority of the AI tools are unable to use NPU acceleration, but utilize integrated graphics instead. Ones that do are providing insignificant advantages.
The tools themselves are barely usable and very often a niche, so they can be instead used from the browser on any device.

Microsoft is unironically asking their users to recycle computers that can't run Windows 11. Like, WTF, bruh?
Jokes aside: Linux will become significantly more popular this year, MS is playing with fire.

It seems that Microsoft is not able to unplug Windows 10 yet: Pro license users will be able to enroll for a free extra year of updates.
Previously it was only promised for a $30 fee.
