According to the initial reports, Split Fiction is the most successful “single player” game release for Electronic Arts ever (IDK why media call a co-op like that). It's also doing great on Steam, despite a few years ago the company wasn't sure if getting…
Split Fiction managed to gather over 250K concurrent players on Steam!
It's a 52nd position in all-time charts, right behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (it reached 256K).

More details from Jason Schreier: EA fired 300-400 people across the whole company, over 100 of them were from Respawn Entertainment.
The biggest project they cancelled is the extraction shooter based on Titanfall/Apex universe. Since several new extraction games failed to gain traction or engagement, EA is probably doing the right thing.
It's not the first wave of layoffs in EA this year (the biggest one was at Bioware). But they hope it will be the last one.
It's curious that EA is under pressure from all fronts: InZOI is way more popular than The Sims, several new football games are stealing attention from EA FC 25, Dragon Age got no sales (compared to AC Shadows, Kingdom Come II, Oblivion, and Expedition 33), and even Battlefield is facing pressure from Delta Force.

Stop Killing Games just forced EA to… shut down more games in advance: Need For Speed Rivals will go offline on October 7, 2025. FIFA 23, NHL 21, and Madden 22 will also be closed in October.
And Anthem is going dark too, but on January 12, 2026. I thought it was already down for quite some time.
But they were doing it for years, by the way. Here's the full list: https://www.ea.com/legal/service-updates/a-h
