🔥 Good news, everyone!
PlayStation decided that Herman Hulst isn't doing the right thing with his PSN account requirements. They replaced him + you no longer need PSN for several single player games:
• Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
• The Last of Us Part II Remastered
• Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
• God of War Ragnarök
Hulst is left to supervise internal studios. And now Hideaki Nishino will be the only CEO of PlayStation.
From now on, PlayStation will keep PSN accounts as optional link that will grant users with certain gifts and addons (the same as CDPR does with Cyberpunk and The Witcher 3).

Fun fact: Ubisoft locks down its old games the way that you have to login every fuckin time you launch Far Cry 3, Assassin's Creed 4, etc. But not the newer games — Steam login is enough for modern titles. There's literally no reason for gatekeeping old games, since all these games are already cracked.

24 hours have passed since the PlayStation Network collapsed. There are no specific details or explanations from the company.
The previous big outage was in 2011. After the network was hacked it was offline for 23 days. The story ended with class action lawsuits.
The company lost over $170m back then and it's obvious that they will keep their mouth shut now to minimize any losses.
