[SDG7 Youth Constituency - “Introducing Nuclear Energy to Youth” event ]

👉 WHAT: The objective of this event is to provide an introduction to nuclear energy and to gather perspectives from young people working in the field. It is an educational event where pros and cons will be considered.
🗓 WHEN: Held virtually on Saturday 22 January 2022 from 16:00 to 17:30 CET (The language of the event will be English 🇬🇧)
👥 WHO: The event will gather a panel of young professionals from around the world and will consist of a three-part panel discussion and an open Q&A session with the audience: Part 1 – Nuclear energy in the public debate / Part 2 – Nuclear energy technology and climate change / Part 3 – Current and future young people’s contribution to the sector

[Invitation - IRENA Youth Forum 2022: The New Generation of Decision Makers]

👉 Held under the overarching theme “Youth-led solutions to accelerate the energy transition and achieve climate objectives”, the 2022 edition of the IRENA Youth Forum will highlight the role of young people in identifying and developing solutions that can promote and accelerate the renewables-based energy transitions to achieve climate targets and other sustainable development goals. It will also offer the opportunity to young leaders to share their experience and interact and connect with global thought leaders in identifying the essential areas that require support for youth to contribute to the advancement of a global energy transition.

Dr. Maria Kottari is the founder of The Energy Matrix Policy Consultancy. She is a part-time Research and Teaching Associate at the School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute (Climate). She holds a Ph.D. in International, European & Regional Studies with a focus on Energy Politics and has a wide range of expertise and network in subjects related to the EU and international politics and governance, energy/climate and environmental policies, sustainability, and social challenges.

👉European Green Deal and Fit-for-55 Package; importance of it and what it means for the energy transition
👉 Principles of Just transition (information about Just Transition)

🗣️ Our speaker for the session will be Niccoló Primo. He is an energy engineer with a background in renewable energy systems. After finishing his studies, Niccoló decided to come back to Portugal to join Coopérnico, a local renewable energy cooperative. He is working on adoption of renewable energy technologies, identifying business opportunities for energy community projects and collaborating with international companies to decentralize, decarbonize and digitalize the energy sector.

🇮🇹 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 Tri-national programme «Youth for Energy Futures» 🇮🇹 🇫🇷 🇩🇪

👉 The "Youth for Energy Futures" program aims to enable European youth to identify solutions to meet this challenge by giving the opportunity to a group of 12 young adults from France, Germany and Italy to participate in a process of reflection nourished by study trips to their three countries. Field visits and meetings with committed actors will allow them to discover the diversity of contexts in which the socially just energy and ecological transition must take place, to grasp in a concrete way the questions that arise in each country and to imagine solutions.

The winning student will be awarded a ticket for the EASE Energy Storage Biannual Global Conference taking place in Brussels on 11-13 October 2022. The 3-day ticket has the value of 1,099 Euros! He or she will be recognised during the conference and will be invited to present their research to the participants.
