CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis Tweets:
Together Towards a Water-Secure Future: Empowering Villages & Protecting Nature’s Lifeblood
Had the opportunity to be part of the Vidarbha Water Conference held in Nagpur — a significant step towards sustainable water management. Organised jointly by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, the National Service Scheme (NSS), and Janakalyankari Samiti, this event brought together academic minds and social organisations with a shared commitment to water conservation and community-driven solutions.
Water has always been the foundation of human civilization. water scarcity is a serious issue, with only 1% of the world’s water available for use. This makes conservation more important than ever.
After Operation Sindoor, India took strong decisions for national security, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Now, it’s time to focus on conserving water, storing rainwater, and reusing it. Inadequate irrigation is one of the reasons behind farmer distress, especially in Vidarbha. While eastern Vidarbha gets good rainfall, the western region still faces drought.
To address this, we have initiated several large and small irrigation projects, including Gosikhurd. Since over half of Maharashtra is drought-prone, efforts such as the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan, small irrigation schemes, and local conservation initiatives are just as important as large dams. Through active public participation in Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan, many villages in the state have become water-secure. The people have collectively contributed ₹700 crore to this effort, which is truly inspiring for the government.
Protecting natural water sources is key. Nature’s balance must be maintained. Sewage is now being treated in plants (STPs) and reused, instead of being dumped into rivers — a step that will also help avoid water-related disputes.
This conference should not just raise problems but also suggest practical solutions. From the Nalganga–Vainganga river-linking project, we will create a 500-km river to support drought-hit areas in Marathwada and Vidarbha. Other river-linking efforts, including the Tapi Recharge Project, will increase water capacity by 22 TMC, benefiting saline regions in Vidarbha and North Maharashtra.
MLA Parinay Fuke, the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, the Vice-Chancellor of Gondwana University, and other dignitaries were present.

CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis Tweets:
A Collective Step Forward in the Fight Against Diabetes!
Inaugurated the ‘Hello Diabetes’ 12th International Conclave, jointly organised by the Diabetes Care and Research Centre and the Diabetes Care Foundation of India in Nagpur.
India is slowly turning into the diabetes capital, a growing concern. Once rooted in a traditional lifestyle, our diets have changed with the times. As habits shift, so does health. Our Hon. PM Narendra Modi Ji’s Fit India Movement and efforts to address childhood obesity and eating patterns highlight the urgency. With rising obesity, India and China now seem to be in a race in the spread of lifestyle diseases.
Nearly 60% of diabetes patients in India remain in denial, often discovering the condition only during treatment for something else, yet are still hesitant to accept it. Though manageable with proper medication, diet, and nutrition, a lack of awareness persists. Diabetes often invites other serious health issues, making public awareness all the more crucial.
Extensive research is underway on diabetes and lifestyle-related diseases, benefiting many and helping move people out of denial and fear.
Urbanisation has led to entire generations being affected by conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. The ‘Hello Diabetes’ 12th International Conclave is expected to spark in-depth discussions on diabetes, share new research and treatment approaches, and take a step forward in the fight against the disease.
‘Hello Diabetes’ 12th International Conclave organiser Dr. Sunil Gupta and other dignitaries were present.
