Singapore's Defense Minister, Dr Ng Eng Hen openly warn USA that they are failing geopolitically in the region (South East Asia) despite doing a lot on the military front with the formation of the Quad and AUKUS.

But USA's geopolitical strategy to focus exclusively on Taiwan issue is going to backfire on them as the region is not looking at the developments and US actions favorably.

Dr Ng, basically spells out that USA with merely military-reasoned presence and investment in the region will not give USA the moral legtimacy and influence in the region that they used to have from the 1960s to 2000.

Mehrtens was taken hostage and accused of violating a no-fly zone in the region by the West Papua National Liberation Army. In a heart-wrenching video, Mehrtens pleads for an end to bombings in the area, which he claims are being carried out by the Indonesian Army.

The situation in #WestPapua is complex, and the history of the region is equally intricate. At the time of #Indonesia's independence, the #Netherlands argued that West Papua was ethnically distinct from the rest of the country, leading to a U.N.-overseen referendum in 1969 to determine the region's fate.
