Extract from a long and interesting interview.
Conscript signalman in the 488's 17th Battalion, consisting of 500 men covering 15km of border in 10 positions (+2-3 Akhmat + Border guards in each position).
When shelled their HQ was hit with 4 KIA. All officers then abandoned them except for a Lieutenant and a Sergeant.
After more shelling they decided to try and escape in smaller groups. They hid but lacked water and were discovered and captured after 7 days.
