Based on research by CareerBuilder, Social Media Due Diligence has grown by 500% in a space of 10 years.

According to Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), further analysis of this research reveals that - of the 59% of hiring managers who used social media to research candidates, nearly 49% found information that impacted the candidates negatively.

Some of the information found include provocative & inappropriate content, abusive expressions, cyber bullying, discriminatory comments relating to race, gender, nationality etc.

The truth is people are watching the way you behave online for reasons that far transcend hiring.

Is Social Media Due Diligence ethical? There are schools of thought for & against this trend. But here's the deal - it continues regardless. People will always look you up.

The big question is;

CV Mistakes You Should Avoid
1. Graphic design can be a great way to stand out in an industry where creativity is needed. For most roles, it's recommended to avoid graphics as ATS (Application Tracking System) can't read this information and most likely be rejected. You can use the same space to write relevant skills and use keywords to improve your chances. 

Note: using your image is allowed based on which country check local requirements. 

2. Job Experience: Make sure you use an active verb and describe what you and what impact/achievements you made; otherwise, it just sounds like job spec. 

Example: 
I. Marketing: Created online sales funnel on social media, which increased lead conversion rate by 10%.

II. Sales: Exceeded all quotas, resulting in a 60% revenue increase over 12 months.

III. Graphic Designer: Used expertise in Adobe Creative Suite to design 100+ logos, social media posts per month for 10+ clients. 

IV. Event Planning: Lead organising and managing for 5+ corporate events attended by 500+ people. 

V. IT Architect: Used C++ to crate IT infrastructure for 10+ clients.
