Is it difficult for you to find the best book to learn English?

If so, this post is for you ๐Ÿ”ฅ

I want to share some info about books which I use at my lessons. Maybe it will help you choose ones for your self-studying or for extra practice.

The first part of my post will be about books which are really good for self-studying (for example, to practice grammar, vocab, etc).

๐Ÿ“• Vocabulary for IELTS Advanced
This book was recommended by my CPE tutor when I took CAE.

This book is perfect for revision and learning new vocabulary which is divided into topics. Since there are a lot of different exercises, you can practice new vocabulary in reading, writing, etc. Besides, in the end of this book you can find a list of vocabulary by units. It really helped me to revise all general topics within just a couple of weeks.

So, as I used this book myself, I totally recommend it to you โœจ

I really like looking for interesting worksheets and books for my students so they are more engaged in our lessonsโœจ

And that's why I've been testing one book for a couple of weeks.

Keynote. It's based on TED Talks (which I love so much), so students can discuss topics of current interest and improve all skills. Moreover, it's a great opportunity to immerse themselves in real language.

I don't use it as the main book but it's really useful for extra practice.

Have you ever heard about it? Do you like the content of this book?

Some of my students are going to take IELTS very soon, that's why I'm not active on social networks again ๐Ÿ˜…

Buuut... As I'm in love with exams, I want to share a must-have book for IELTS preparation ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Common mistakes at IELTS and how to avoid them. This series of books has different levels but as my channel is for advanced speakers, I'll post exactly this one. If you need the Intermediate level book, let me know โœจ

And now back to exams ๐Ÿ“š

Step 2. Books (Part 1)

Actually, I don't recommend using only one book because it's always not enough. Of course, exam books usually have all necessary information about exams and topics which are common but you need some extra materials, especially if you're going to take CAE/CPE or IELTS (7+).

So, here are my recommendations.

Cambridge exams
๐Ÿ”ถ๏ธ Objective First/Advanced/Proficiency

I really like this book and teach my teachers' group using it. It has all necessary information about exams, grammar and vocabulary sections, a lot of speaking tasks.

๐Ÿ”ถ๏ธ Expert First/Advanced/Proficiency

Another must-have when preparing for these exams. I don't use it as the main book but it also has plenty of good tasks. When I was preparing for CPE, my tutor used it. So anyway, it's my recommendation.

The post is gonna be long, so I decided to divide it into some parts ๐Ÿ˜…

Step 2. Books (Part 2)

It's the second part of my post about books. Now it's about IELTS.

๐Ÿ”ถ๏ธ Complete IELTS
I sometimes use this book to prepare my lessons. Not bad but it seems to me that it's a bit outdated. The structure is the same for all exam books: some common topics, vocabulary, grammar and exam practice. One benefit for me is that you can find a lot of useful vocab for writing at the end of this book.

๐Ÿ”ถ๏ธ Mindset for IELTS
Another good book. It's newer and brighter but the structure is the same, of course. Unfortunately, there isn't much vocabulary, so you'll need to use extra materials. Anyway, there are only a couple of books for IELTS, so I recommend it ๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿ”ถ๏ธ Vocabulary for IELTS (Pauline Cullen)
I posted the info about this book here ๐Ÿ˜‰
Still love it!
