🔘Forgotten Sunnah - Drinking the water leftover from Wudhu
Forgotten Sunnah
ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

◆ A rarely known Sunnah amongst the Muslims, yet part of the practice of our beloved Prophet, ﷺ. This forgotten Sunnah is revived by our beloved Shaykh Muqbil ibn Haadee al-Waadi'ee, رحمه الله.

It is reported by al-Husayn ibn 'Alee, رضي الله عنهـما, that he said:

"My father 'Alee called me to bring (water for) Wudhu, so I brought it to him, and he started by washing his hands three times, before putting them into the water. Then he rinsed his mouth three times and sniffed water into his nose and blew it out three times. Then he washed his face three times, then his right hand up to the elbow three times, then his left likewise. Then he wiped his head once, then he washed his right foot up to the ankle three times, then the left likewise.

Then he stood up and said: 'Pass me the vessel.' So I passed the vessel containing the remaining water for his Wudhu to him, and he drank from it standing up. I was surprised and when he noticed that he said: 'Do not be surprised, for I saw your father the Prophet, ﷺ, doing what you have seen me doing.' referring to his Wudhu and drinking the leftover water while standing.”

[An-Nasaa'ee. Graded 'Saheeh' by Shaykh Muqbil, رحمه الله, in his 'Al-Jaami' as-Saheeh mima laysa fi saheehayn', Chapter: Drinking the leftover water of the ablution, 1/515]

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Allah said: I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen and no ear has heard, not has it occurred to human heart. Thus recite if you wish (1): And no soul knows what joy for them (the inhabitants of Paradise) has been kept hidden (Quran Chapter 32 Verse 17).

(1) The words "Thus recite if you wish" are those of Abu Harayrah.

It was related by al-Bukhari, Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.

Imam As-Sa'di رحمه الله - Commentary on the verse

indeed all the believers are brothers. So make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allâh, that you may receive mercy. (Al-Hujurat 49:10)

Imam Khateeb al-Baghdadi rahimahullah said:

“It is necessary for the student of knowledge to distinguish himself in his general affairs from the methods/ways of the laymen by using the narrations of the Messenger sallalahu alayhi wa salam as much as he can and by employing the Sunnah upon himself. For verily Allah, the Exalted said:

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow

Question -
I want to marry and I have an elder brother is not married and he is out of country. My parents are telling me to wait until he returns and get married and after that I can marry. Should I obey my parents ?

Answer;
If the person is fearing on him that he falls into fornication or other prohibited acts (like masturbation) and he have the capability of marrying then it is compulsory upon him to marry and he don’t need to obey his parents. As the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) told :

‘O young people! Whoever among you is able to marry, should marry, and whoever is not able to marry, is .recommended to observe Saum (fast) as fasting will diminish his sexual power.”
(Al Bukhari – 5065)

And he should try his best to get agreement from his parents and satisfy them.

And even if he dont have fear of falling into sinful acts also there is no problem if he marries without agreement from his parents. And in this case, if he obeys his parents then insha Allah, Allah might return him with more good.

Tahiyyatul Masjid during the Time when Prayer is prohibited-

Question:

Is Tahiyyatul Masjid permissible after the Asr prayer and the Fajr prayer in any mosque ,or is it only allowed in the two Holy Mosques at the times when prayer is prohibited , not in other mosque ?

Answer :

The most correct view among the sayings of the scholars is that when a person enters the Masjid even if it be a time when prayer is prohibited he should pray Tahiyyatul Masjid in accordance with the general meaning of the Hadeeth of the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi was sallam) in which he said : If any of you enters the masjid ,he should not sit until he has prayed two Rak’ahs.(Bukharee and Muslim).

And the Hadeeths which prohibit prayer at the time of sunrise ,sunset, when it is at it’s meridian ,after Asr and after Maghrib must be understood to refer to general supererogatory prayers, not to obligatory prayers or those non obligatory prayers for which there is a reason, such as Tahiyyatul Masjid and the two Rak’ahs of Tawaf, both of which are prayed after Asr and after Fajr and at all other times when prayer is normally prohibited .

🔘[Benefit] The Last Verse Recited by Ibn Taymiyyah🔘

Hafidh Ibn Kathir rahimahullah wrote:

“His [Shaikhul-Islaam’s] brother,Zaynud-deen Aburrahman, informed those present that he and the Shaikh rahimahullah completed the Quran eighty times since entering the jail and they begin the eighty-first time. We stopped at the end of the verse of Iqtarabat-Saa’atah [suratu-lQamar]:

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَلِيكٍ مقتدر

Verily, The Muttaqun (pious), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise). In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allah, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour) [54:54-55]

So then two pious Shaikhs: Abdullah ibn al-Muhiib and Abdullah ibn az-Zurai’ al-Dareer, and Shaikhul Islaam liked their recitations, begin reciting the remaining [portion of the Quran] beginning at surahtul Rahmaan until they finished the Quran. I was present and I heard and I saw“. [Bidyaah wan-Nihayah (18/300)]

Ibn Abdul-Haadi rahimahullah said:

Then it was completed for him after he died and he was lying down” [al-Uqood ad-Dariyyah pg. 290-291]

What is the optimal way to benefit from Knowledge??

Question: What is the optimal way to benefit from Knowledge?

Answer: “The path of benefiting from knowledge is easy. If you learn something, apply it. If you know that congregation prayer is obligatory, then pray in congregation. If you know that treating parents well is obligatory, then treat your parents well. Application is easy, however, the desire of the soul prevents it. So be stronger than the desire of your soul”.
