How are you today?

A man asked Abu Tameemah this, so he replied, "I woke up between two blessing I don't know which of them is greater: The fact that Allah concealed my sins thus no one can expose and shame me as a result. Or the fact that Allah placed love in the hearts of His servants for me even though my deeds do not entitle me to such."

[as-Shukr by Ibn Abi Dunyaa pg. 40]
Ibn al-Qayyim (‎رحمه الله): Who Should You Complain To?

❝It is truly an ignorant person who complains about Allāh to people. Such a person has displayed the deepest depths of ignorance concerning both Allāh and people: if he truly knew Allāh, he would never complain about Him; if he truly understood people, he would never complain to them.

One of the pious predecessors saw a person complaining to another about his desperate state of affairs and commented, ‘What have you achieved besides complaining to someone who will not show you mercy, leaving the One who will?’

When you complain to the son of Adam
You have left the Merciful for one who is not.

Someone who truly knows Allāh will only ever complain to Him. Amongst this category of people, the best is the person who complains to Allāh, not about other people, but about himself (and his spiritual condition). This person has grasped the real reason behind his difficulties and is looking to His words, “Any disaster that strikes you is because of what your own hands have done,” (Q42:30) “Any bad things that happen to you [ultimately] come from yourself,” (Q4:79) “Why is it that when a calamity happens to you, when you have already inflicted twice as much, you say, ‘How could this possibly happen?’ Say, ‘You brought it upon yourselves.’” (Q3:165)

Therefore, there are three levels of people: the meanest is the person who complains about Allah to people, the most sublime is the person who complains about himself to Allāh, and middlemost is the person who complains about other people to Allāh.❞

[Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Fawāʾid, pg. 126]

‎(... مَنْ دَلَّ عَلَى خَيْرٍ فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ فَاعِلِهِ )

"Whoever points to something good will have the same reward as the one who does it.” (Reported by Imam Muslim)
The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year before it and the year after it, and fasting the day of ‘Ashuraa I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year that came before it.”

[Reported by Muslim]

-

Fasting ʿĀshūrā’ comes after fasting ʿArafah in virtue. Its best method is:

- Fasting the ninth and tenth.
- Then fasting the tenth and eleventh.
- Then fasting the ninth, tenth and eleventh; or the tenth on its own.

Sh. Abdul'Aziz al-Tarefe (حفظه الله)
Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

"The best month for observing Saum (fasting) next after Ramadan is the month of Allah, the Muharram; and the best Salat (prayer) next after the prescribed Salat is Salat at night (Tahajjud prayers)."

[Sahih Muslim]
Tomorrow (Tuesday 11th of October) is the Day of 'Ashura (10th of Muharram).

Abu Qatada al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Fasting three days every month and [fasting] the whole [month] of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fast. The fast of the day of `Arafah, [I consider it to] expiate the sins of the preceding and the coming year. The fast of the day of `Ashura, [I consider it to] expiate the sins of the preceding year.” (1)

An-Nawawi (‎رحمه الله) said:

“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah is an expiation for two years, and the day of ‘Ashura is an expiation for one year, and if a person’s Ameen coincides with the Ameen of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven. Each of the things mentioned may bring expiation. If he does something that expiates for minor sins he will be expiated, and if there are no minor or major sins, it will be recorded for him as good deeds and he will rise in status thereby. If there is one or more major sins and no minor sins, we hope that it will reduce his major sins.”(2)

📆 Days of Fasting for Muharram 📆

The days of the White (nights) of Fasting for Muharram fall on Friday the 14th of October till Sunday the 16th.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

‘Shall I not tell you of something that will take away the evil of the heart? Fasting three days of each month.’

(an-Nisaa’i 2/2386)

"Fasting Muḥarram is better than fasting the rest of the months just as night prayer is better than optional day prayer, due to the ḥadīth, 'The best fasting after Ramaḍān is that of Muḥarram and the best prayer after the obligatory one is night prayer.'"

- Sh. 'Abdul Aziz al-Tarefe (حفظه الله)

Fast them if you can!
It was narrated that ‘A’ishah (رضي الله عنها) said:

❝The Prophet (ﷺ) was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays.❞

[Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 745].
The Prophet (ﷺ) said about fasting;

"Observe fasting; there is nothing like it." (1)

He (ﷺ) also said:

"When a person fasts for a day, for the sake of Allah, Allah drives away the Hell-Fire from him to a distance of seventy years of traveling." (2)

📆 Days of Fasting for Safar 📆

The days of the White (nights) of Fasting for Safar fall on Sunday 13th of November till Tuesday the 15th.

Make sure you fast, winter fasting is a treasure many are heedless of!

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) said:

“My close friend [the Prophet (ﷺ)] advised me to do three things which I will not give up until I die: fasting three days of each month, praying Duha, and sleeping after Witr.” (1)

He (ﷺ) said: “Fasting three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime, and ayyam al-beedh are the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.” (2)

(1) - [Bukhaari, 1124; Muslim, 721].

(2) - (Narrated by al-Nasaa’i (2420); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, (1040)).
If you can't fast the middle three days;

Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-‘Uthaymeen (‎رحمه الله) was asked: 'When fasting three days of every month, is it essential that it be only on the ayyaam al-beed? Or is it permissible to fast any three days of the month?'

He replied:

“It is permissible to fast at the beginning of the month, in the middle or at the end, on consecutive days or separately.

But it is better if it is done on the three ayyaam al-beed, which are the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.

‘Aa’ishah (رضي الله عنها) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to fast on three days of every month, and he did not mind whether he fasted at the beginning or at the end of the month.”

[Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 20/question no. 376].
Some of the brothers opened a page sharing beautiful short clips of different Imams and various Qir'at.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever among you wakes up physically healthy, feeling safe and secure within himself, with food for the day, it is as if he acquired the whole world.”

Ibn al-Salah said,

"It has been narrated that the Angels were not granted the virtue of reciting the Quran. Due to that, they hasten to listen to its recitation from mankind. Hence, reciting the Quran is a blessing that Allah has honored you with, so take advantage of it."

📆 Days of Fasting for Rabi al-Awwal 📆

The days of the White (nights) of Fasting for Rabi al-Awwal fall on Tuesday the 13th till Thursday the 15th of December.

(2) - (Narrated by al-Nasaa’i (2420); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, (1040)).
Jâbir (رضي الله عنه) relates that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Friday is comprised of twelve hours. There is one in which a Muslim who asks Allah for something will have it granted to him. Seek it in the last hour after `Asr.”

[Sunan Abî Dâwûd (1048), Sunan al-Nasâ’î (1389) and Mustadrak al-Hâkim(1032)].

Duʿā does not go in vain. But Allah has a wisdom in setting the time for its response, so one should think positively of Him.

The Prophet ﷺ was under siege in Makkah and yet his plight was not removed except after three years although he was the best of creation.
